Plain, Ugly and Boring looking. Looks like everything else on the road but a cost of 100k+. If it didn’t have the Mercedes Star on the trunk one might mistake it for a Chevrolet.....

No more MB:(
100%. The star is why people will take notice, could of easily been branded a Buick. Boring and underwhelming. For a mid level car it would be fine but for a "premium" luxury S level car it doesn't exactly "rock" it. Interior will save it.

Why car companies come out with stunning computerized concept drawings of a high end car and then produce a version that has almost nothing in common baffles me. A bunch of smoke and mirror hype. Compare pictures of the Taycan and EQS concept pictures next to the produced version. Beauty next to ugly.
I realize MB was going for the bragging rights on lowest drag coefficient but do they really think S Class buyers care about a few extra miles per charge? I am very disillusioned with the exterior on the EQS and this will not be my first all electric buy. Your money, your choice.

Classic car forum thread. Company launches awesome new car. People who drive older models bash it. True car enthusiasts go ahead and buy one or look forward to the day they can.
Applies to every section of this website, and Bimmerpost, Rennlist, etc.
The only car forum I don't see this is Tesla, because the brand isn't old enough to attract this kind of persona.

So if I don't get one does that mean I am not an enthusiast? I myself and many others have bought new models - and many of them - for a long time. Just because some of us don't like this one doesn't mean we're not enthusiasts.

The car looks actually sleeker on this video than in pics. I wonder if there are spacers on the car as the stance also looks a bit wider than stock (in a good way). I like the look although I would have wished for a more extroverted design like the Vision was.
Very little excitement but understandable that they need to be more slippery and the EQS has the range that Porsche/Audi can't produce.
Now get the car lowered a bit

I would have phrased it differently but get stealth.pilot's comment. Every time a model changes, there is endless whining in the prior model forums bemoaning how crappy and ugly the new cars are, how useless countless new features are and how the brand is deteriorating and getting more diluted...
Now it's true that some models are more attractive than others but this behavior is so predictable; it happens without fail The more evolutionary a design, the less complaints...

The complaint many have with the “new features” is that some are solutions where there is no problem. Most can change the temperature, change radio stations and a myriad of other functions, and still keep their eyes on the road, faster that voice commands or endless passes over a touch screen.
That said, I personally look forward to innovation on design and interfaces; not in every car but cars like the S-Class or EQS where I expect to be pampered. I like that MB uses AI to recognize my habits and automatically adjust aspects of the car to my liking. Ideally I shouldn't have to use the temperature controls ever

I was speaking to about what I have seen on this forum for 20 years, not about specifics.

The same type of comments are on BP as well for those of us who can't stand the new M3's looks. The G8X lovers tell us we aren't true car enthusiasts because looks aren't everything in a car, and we tell them that we aren't paying $80k to walk out to an ugly car every morning
