This sounds good...Tesla is prepping for giant Supercharger expansion ahead of opening the network to other EVs
...perhaps we could see the Tesla U.S. chargers open up to all in 2022 or 2023, if we're lucky.

Finally, Im not clear how the whole Mercedes charging payment system works. If you have a chargepoint acciunt it might make the entire process simpler. I bought a Chargepoint flex. Whatever charger you choose it should be wifi connected since I don't see any other way you could use the Mercedes payment system when charging at home without it.
Again it would be nice if corporate explained how the whole thing works instead of vague marketing soundbits they have released to date.
Finally, any 220v (level2) J1772 "charger" will work to charge the car. Its the other details that are still murky. At least to me.

No. Any J1772 will do. It should be plugged to a 220v socket on a 50amp circuit as a minimum. The ambiguity on whether the car charger in the US cars is 9 or 11kw is driving me nuts. Regardles, I'm installing a 60 amp circuit and direct wiring the chargeport just in case 11kw charging is possible. If so you coud charge the car in 8 rather than 11hrs.You can not go wrong if you have a bigger circuit however you can't pull more juice out of a smaller one. Regardless, the chargeport will provide only whatever the car will accept.

Chargepoint Flex looks to be available for immediate delivery from Amazon. I have one of them at my home and they are very nice units.

This dealer is selling it for $399 (and no sales tax unless in NY):

Do not buy a cheap charging cable on Amazon. Reports have shown these chargers to be unsafe and could possibly damage the car.
If you do end up getting a charger on Amazon, make sure it's UL listed and/or Energy Star certified
If you want a wall mounted one. Get a Grizzl-E level 2 charger. It's available on Amazon but it is cheaper on their website (https://grizzl-e.com/product/usa/cha...ic-nema-14-50/)

Charge Point
Ordered mine from the factory,
told 5-6 weeks shipping.
Ordered identical item from Amazon, here 3 days later.
Ten days later factory unit showed up, although I had tried to cancel it. Returned it.
