Some of these options I specified may already be included in the EQS580V4.

My 2 S class cars have been diamond white. I never thought of it having a yellowish tint, but it is not pure white like polar white. I have a gmc in metallic white as well, so I decided to mix things up and go with matte grey on the EQS. If I decide to change, I probably would go back to diamond white.

ya gotta mix it up at some point! lol I'm going with the diamond white, I just wished MB offered the Night package on the EQS as the car has enough chrome with the RWY wheels.

I was under the impression all current orders required adding the AMG exterior package with amg wheels and 10 degree rear wheel steering. Was that updated, deleting this requirement?

I don't think AMG package is required.

That’s what I was told. I preordered the 580 and had to include the amg exterior package and 10degree steering, along with the amg wheels . Not sure how beantrader could place an order for the 580 without these options.

I received the order guide from MBUSA, went through the options I wanted, and emailed it to the general manager at my dealer. The order guide didn’t mention at all like it had to be ordered with the AMG line. The manager told me that the order can’t be officially placed until sometime in July. Incredible confusion.

I was at the dealer when the salesman and myself went over the order on his sales computer. I had to add those options as we went thru the ordering process. You are correct that this is a “preorder” and I’m sure the order “requirements” will change when the time comes when Mercedes accepts the official order.

Personally I’m not sold on the AMG exterior package and wheels, but I’ll see what the price mark is and decide when I find out the actual price of this car. I wanted to get my order in sooner rather than later as I think it will be a popular car in limited production. I’m 6th on my dealers list now. I’m not sure of my dealers allocation, but I think they will get at least 6 cars because they have 21 of the new S class cars already on order.

I don't want the damn AMG package. Is there a chance this will not be a requirement by December or January?

I’m not keen with the exterior AMG package as well. For now, to get my preorder in with my dealer I have to add that package. I’m hoping along with you when the time comes when they actually build my car I won’t be required to add that package.

The old Diamond White had a yellow tint. When MB revised it a couple years ago, calling it Diamond White Bright, the yellow tint went away.

My matte white S-Class was great for a few months, and then was impossible to keep clean, showed smudge marks easily, and was impossible to touch up. I was so glad to sell it.

i've been trying to lock up an edition 1 allocation for a while now. my local dealer here in honolulu mentioned they don't know if they will even get one and to prepare my order that it will not be an edition 1.

Does anyone know of a dealer that is for sure getting them?

I believe the dealers should receive their EQS allocations on/around July 16th. We some luck your dealer may get one.

The order release for the Mercedes EQS has been slightly delayed by one month to mid-July 2021; delivery is scheduled to begin at the end of August 2021 as planned

The Mercedes EQS has already been recognized by the media as the best electric car in the world. The EQS therefore rightly bears the S in its name.


The range of 770 km according to WLTP (EQS 450+) as well as the charging power of up to 210 kW (or 300 km in 15 min) and the very long, high charging curve. The EQS 450+ therefore takes first place in the P3 Charging Index and also beats the Porsche Taycan with 800 volts.
The Tesla Model S Plaid + with 1,100 PS and a range of over 800 km, which was widely announced by Elon Musk, was canceled today and will not be launched on the market for the time being.

Mercedes EQS with MBUX Hyperscreen
Although the production of the Mercedes EQS alreadystarted on May 12th , 2021 , the order approval is delayed slightly by around 4 weeks to expected July 15th, 2021 . Deliveries to customers, on the other hand, should begin as planned from the end of August 2021.

Order approval with EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4matic at the same time
The Mercedes EQS 450+ with 107.8 kWh with a WLTP range of up to 770 km (although the fully locked wheels will probably only be available from the 4th quarter of 2021) and the EQS 580 4matic will be available for order approval. The exact range of the EQS 580 4matic has not yet been communicated, but is expected in the range of 660-720 km (depending on the wheel-tire combination).
A small version with 90 kWh (EQS 400) will not be available to order right from the start.
The two AMG variants will also not be available to order from the start. We are already used to this from combustion engines.

• AMG EQS 53 4matic with approx. 612 hp (series start at the end of 2021)
• AMG EQS 63 4matic with 761 hp (series start 2022)

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the AMG EQS 63 4matic will only have 761 hp? Has anyone heard the projected (usually conservative) 0-62 times?

Don’t despair! US dealers should get allocations in 2nd half of July after EQS price list is revealed.

We should be able to get some US bound EQS’ in late Q3!

yeah I guess it’s probably because Tesla lead the EV industry for the last 10+yrs that everyone feels that a Mercedes needs to compete with a Tesla.
For example, when Dodge came out with their 707hp ICE vehicle, I don’t think anyone driving an AMG or BMW M felt that their cars needed to compete with a Dodge.
Teslas are cool but a Mercedes EV is to a Tesla what a Mercedes ICE was to a Dodge… in a totally different league.
