EQS Pre-order Thread

Wanted to create this thread for discussion among people who have EQS Pre-orders. Who has ordered an EQS so far? What is your dealer telling you about the wait and your place in line?

I have preorders at two seperate dealers, first in line at both. I'll cancel one of them eventually:

1. EQS 580 - MSRP ---- This dealer has confirmed if they get the Edition 1 they will provide that to me at MSRP as well. They just need to wait to confirm they are getting Edition 1 vehicle (and in blue)
2. EQS 580 Edition 1 - MSRP+5K

They don't really seem to know anything other then that.

I contacted literally every dealer in my state and best I could get was MSRP. Some wouldn't commit to anything and just "We will charge you market price when it arrives" aka MSRP+some insane markup. Others would commit for some insane MSRP markups of 10-20+K for base models and 50K for Edition 1.

Anyone able to get a dealer to commit to below MSRP?

Mine is at MSRP as well although I am sure I will be able to get some token discount for United Airlines Premier or an FEP discount via my company.

One of the reasons I created this thread is that I am curious how demand will develop for this car. If it turns out like the Taycan then it will be in short supply for a while after launch.

My dealer said she would offer me an Edition 1 if they get one, but to be honest I think I prefer the Matte gray option.

What wheels did you order? I ordered these turbine style wheels.
]\

But now I am wondering if they are too retro for this car. Whenever I look at the two-tone edition 1 it looks like a modern car masquerading as a retro car.

I am considering switching to the 22" wheels. While the 22" wheels are low profile, the tire wall is about the same as the 21" on my Panamera so I don't think it will be an issue for me.

If I don't go with the Edition 1 (Depends on 2 items: 1. MSRP vs the individual options
2. If I can upgrade items, I want the better HUD and the dashcam, Edition 1 only comes with the basic.)
I'll be going with these options most likely, I've bolded the wheel. It is the one with the blue accents on it:

697 Center Console in Natural Grain Yacht-Design Brown Walnut Wood,
69U Neva Grey Microfiber Headliner,
596 Infrared glass,
445 MBUX Augmented Reality Head-Up Display,
443 Heated Steering Wheel,
21U Dashcam,
18R 21" 10-Spoke Wheels with Energy Blue Accents,
R01 Range-Optimized Summer Tires,
P87 MANUFAKTUR Interior Package,
P24 Automatic Front/Rear Comfort Doors,
PBS ENERGIZING COMFORT,
H39 Natural Grain Yacht-Design Brown Walnut with Aluminum Lines.

Honestly, at this point there are only two things that could stop me from getting the car:

1. Price is way off of what is expected
2. The Steering assist feature sucks. There are only two things I loved about my Teslas I had: A. Electric (Check!) B. Autopilot (Porsche's Innodrive is total garbage on the Taycan we have, Supercruise is nice, Bluecruise will be nice, I've heard BMW is decent, Polestar's is non-existent, Lucid should be good)

I would think the steering assist should be good. Reviews of the tech on the W223 seem positive. I agree that the Innodrive is crap - I have it on my Panamera too. The VW group doesn't seem to have the tech for automatic steering and for some bizarre reason they are building it in house.

I think the 5-twin spoke setup will probably compliment the car better. The turbines aren't bad but they can be a bit too busy in my opinion, although I do beleive they are technically an aero wheel so it'll provide some extra range.

The wheels for either Edition One configuration look good to me.

Good looking wheel, maybe my favorite but you have to see a wheel in person to be sure.

This wheel goes well with the two-tone paint.

The only thing I really hate about those AMG wheels is that MB has some obsession with ruining perfectly good wheels by putting that metal ring inside them, it looks terrible in person and makes the rims looks smaller than they really are. I don't understand why its there.

Valid point. As I say, you need to see a wheel in person to know for sure.

For the folks that have placed orders, do you mind sharing the names of your dealers? Especially those that have agreed to MSRP pricing.

Has anyone succeed at getting a confirmed order? My dealer has taken my deposit but claims they have not received their allocations yet.

There is a huge shortage of computer chips for new cars and production by Ford for quarter 2 of this year is projected to be 50% of normal production. I doubt any other brand has the corner on chips so there may be a huge wait for everyone.

Aerodynamics, supposed to lessen the turbulence around the rim.

Magno Selenite Grey looks awesome on the EQS! Of the pics and videos I've seen, the darker colors appear to work best with this body, especially around the grill.

Both wheels are good looking but for different reasons. The wheels on the first five pics look very aerodynamic and the wheels on the last pic have that AMG look.

I frankly can’t imagine how to clean those wheels with regular MB brake pads…

Thanks for the pics Stealth, good job. That looks like a "Matt" finish, not sure I'm a fan. I really need to see the cars in person to make a decision.

I'm leaning with the 22" 5 spoke wheels, I really think it gives the car a sportier look. my only concern is you have a thinner tire (or whatever the term is), which is again a sportier look but how negatively does it effect the ride. I have 22" 275/40 on my Land Rover and it rides very nice, but that is a larger tire than the 5 spoke. Again you almost have to drive one to see for yourself.

The AMG wheels look like an option you would be kicking yourself for getting every time you had to clean them. and how would you get to the calipers to clean them?
