I just ordered the EQS580V4 with the following specs:

Exterior color = 922-Cirrus Silver Metallic
Wheels = 18R-21” R02 (All Season Tires)
Interior color = 801 Black/Space Grey Nappa Leather
Trim = H39 + 697
Package = DY1 Exclusive Trim

My 2 S class cars have been diamond white. I never thought of it having a yellowish tint, but it is not pure white like polar white. I have a gmc in metallic white as well, so I decided to mix things up and go with matte grey on the EQS. If I decide to change, I probably would go back to diamond white.

That’s what I was told. I preordered the 580 and had to include the amg exterior package and 10degree steering, along with the amg wheels . Not sure how beantrader could place an order for the 580 without these options.

I received the order guide from MBUSA, went through the options I wanted, and emailed it to the general manager at my dealer. The order guide didn’t mention at all like it had to be ordered with the AMG line. The manager told me that the order can’t be officially placed until sometime in July. Incredible confusion.

I was at the dealer when the salesman and myself went over the order on his sales computer. I had to add those options as we went thru the ordering process. You are correct that this is a “preorder” and I’m sure the order “requirements” will change when the time comes when Mercedes accepts the official order.
Personally I’m not sold on the AMG exterior package and wheels, but I’ll see what the price mark is and decide when I find out the actual price of this car. I wanted to get my order in sooner rather than later as I think it will be a popular car in limited production. I’m 6th on my dealers list now. I’m not sure of my dealers allocation, but I think they will get at least 6 cars because they have 21 of the new S class cars already on order.

I’m not keen with the exterior AMG package as well. For now, to get my preorder in with my dealer I have to add that package. I’m hoping along with you when the time comes when they actually build my car I won’t be required to add that package.

I owned a matte car for about 3 years (see the 2014 M5 in my signature). I have to say that it was the lowest maintenance paint finish I have owned. There is absolutely nothing to maintain. With a matte car, especially a matte gray car, there is nothing to do. You don't need a coating. You don't need to polish or paint correct. It doesn't show dirt - dirt just makes it look more matte.

i've been trying to lock up an edition 1 allocation for a while now. my local dealer here in honolulu mentioned they don't know if they will even get one and to prepare my order that it will not be an edition 1.
Does anyone know of a dealer that is for sure getting them?

The order release for the Mercedes EQS has been slightly delayed by one month to mid-July 2021; delivery is scheduled to begin at the end of August 2021 as planned
The Mercedes EQS has already been recognized by the media as the best electric car in the world. The EQS therefore rightly bears the S in its name.
The range of 770 km according to WLTP (EQS 450+) as well as the charging power of up to 210 kW (or 300 km in 15 min) and the very long, high charging curve. The EQS 450+ therefore takes first place in the P3 Charging Index and also beats the Porsche Taycan with 800 volts.
The Tesla Model S Plaid + with 1,100 PS and a range of over 800 km, which was widely announced by Elon Musk, was canceled today and will not be launched on the market for the time being.
Mercedes EQS with MBUX Hyperscreen
Although the production of the Mercedes EQS alreadystarted on May 12th , 2021 , the order approval is delayed slightly by around 4 weeks to expected July 15th, 2021 . Deliveries to customers, on the other hand, should begin as planned from the end of August 2021.
Order approval with EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4matic at the same time
The Mercedes EQS 450+ with 107.8 kWh with a WLTP range of up to 770 km (although the fully locked wheels will probably only be available from the 4th quarter of 2021) and the EQS 580 4matic will be available for order approval. The exact range of the EQS 580 4matic has not yet been communicated, but is expected in the range of 660-720 km (depending on the wheel-tire combination).
A small version with 90 kWh (EQS 400) will not be available to order right from the start.
The two AMG variants will also not be available to order from the start. We are already used to this from combustion engines.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the AMG EQS 63 4matic will only have 761 hp? Has anyone heard the projected (usually conservative) 0-62 times?

For example, when Dodge came out with their 707hp ICE vehicle, I don’t think anyone driving an AMG or BMW M felt that their cars needed to compete with a Dodge.
Teslas are cool but a Mercedes EV is to a Tesla what a Mercedes ICE was to a Dodge… in a totally different league.
