EQS Pricing Accounced
European pricing was announced this week. Assuming that USA pricing is close, this is about 25% higher than I was expecting - I had thought the base EQS would come in under $100k.
With decent options, this means we are looking at roughly $140k before taxes / $155k after taxes for the base model, and close to $200k for the 580 - looks like Mercedes are price positioning the EQS against the Model S Plaid and the Taycan 4S?
2022 EQS 450+, 106,374.10 euros, or the equivalent of around $129,000.
2022 EQS 580 4MATIC, 135,529.10 euros, or the equivalent of around $164,000.

Also, the US Senate voted this week to eliminate the $7,500 EV credit for vehicles retailing for more than $40k and to make the credit unavailable to higher-income buyers, in 2022. Not sure the EV tax credit restrictions will be in the final 2022 tax bill, and I agree that we don't need to be subsiding EQS purchases, but it is another $7,500 out of pocket vs alternatives you could purchase in 2021 like the Taycan.

2022 Mercedes EQS 580
This post is a total let down. I thought US pricing had been announced. There has already been discussions on here about European pricing for some days now.
Glad they are tightening up the subsidies for high income people. Just doesn't make sense. I'm not going to buy an EQS580 over an S580 because of an incentive.

concerning the new EV credit, what EV is under $40k? They should do something for businesses that want to go EV. I would give them a bigger incentive. I would love to convert some of my truck fleet to EV.

I know this is not going to be a popular view but I actually agree with Congress on this one. If you can afford a vehicle that cost north of $130,000 then you do not need a $7500 credit from the government. But if you do need the credit, the EQS is not the EV for you, look for something cheaper.

Yeah the $7500 wasn't available for those who lease anyway. It will be interesting how the different States treat this. Calif normally just follows the Federal Tax Guidelines, although they are currently offering a $7,000 credit even in you lease the car. (different amounts based on income and cost of vehicle.).

Another article about EQS pricing...
https://www.theverge.com/2021/8/10/2...s-over-the-air
The base model, which has a 90kWh battery pack and uses a single electric motor to power the rear wheels, starts at €106,374.10 — roughly $124,000
The more expensive dual-motor, all-wheel drive variant features a 107.8kWh battery pack and will start at €135,529.10 — or nearly $159,000
As buyers spec out their EQS, the prices can certainly go up from there.

But it was too soon to celebrate. On Wednesday, the Senate passed an amendment that grants the $7,500 credit only for EVs that cost less than $40,000, and only if the buyer earns less than $100,000 a year.

Can you guys please stop calculating Euros into Dollars there is also a 19% VAT. Unless you buy a car in Europe and then ship it the Euro price and Dollar price will be roughly equivalent and the 19% can be deducted since the US has net pricing.
What was interesting to me is how MB handles the EQS leases in Germany and the EQS has a higher MF while the residual seems roughly the same as the equivalent S-models. I assume they will do the same in the US as the manufacturing costs for the EQS is higher than the S and they are selling them at a lower margin.

Do you really think Mercedes will be making the 580 for delivery in the US in October? I hope they do, but what I’ve been reading and hearing on forums that don’t hold my breath for delivery that early. Hopefully I will find out more about my situation tomorrow when I talk to my salesman. I’m currently 7 th on my dealers list so I’m not expecting anything till December, if that early. That’s of course if no one drops out and I move up in line.
