2022 Mercedes EQS 580
Are you sure it is a 53? The numbers are higher than the 580 which suggests it may be a 63.

Typically 53 models have less power than 580 models.

Interesting, not really feeling the faux-Panamericana grill on this, but will be interesting to see how the upcoming 63 will perform since this is already pretty quick. I still think the 580 is the way to go for a car this large, its much more suited for luxury than sport.

I have a feeling that this was their 63. But seeing as it can’t compete with the Tesla Model S or even the Taycan Turbo S, they realized that they have to go back to the drawing board. So they renamed this the 53 and are working on a more powerful 63. Just my speculation

I hope they price it like a 53. If so I would take it over the 580. I like the AMG front end. On the other hand I don’t like the AMG interior so there is that.

This place is a joke.
Model S Plaid has made any electric AMG obsolete.

I agree, like the outside, love the black, but I would like more comfort on the inside. Hopefully they will allow similar seat options for the 53 as are in the EQS.

You spend your time on the inside not the outside, I also don't care for the AMG interior as much and eQS. But I do like the steering wheel, and chrome pedals. The fully tricked out AMG can go 0-60 in 2.5 seconds, that is blistering quick, but I still prefer EQS..

Oh Hell, I watched about 5 videos today and I heard one of the hosts said that the "quickest" AMG version can go 0-100km in 2.5 seconds.

Sounds like a 63, though on the way, isn't going to be shipping terribly soon...

3.5s acceleration is actually pretty slow for a 751 horsepower car. Not to mention, did MB say that 751 horsepower is only available for launch control just like Taycan?
Edit: I see, so regular driving modes (and not Race Start) makes 649 horsepower : https://www.autoblog.com/2021/09/05/...lectric-sedan/

It's an EQS. 751hp in an S-Class is not the same as 751hp in a compact like the Taycan. If they put the same powertrain in a EQE I am sure it would be 3 sec flat. And even then it is likely held back to not get too close with the 63 model when that comes out.

Gotta remember this thing probably tips the scales over 5500lbs.

I'm guessing over 6k.

BTW Is the only difference on the outside the wheels and the grille? The rear bumper and front bumper look the same as the EQS580 with the AMG Appearance Package.

I would be very tempted to have my dealer swap out the grille on the 580 because I think the Panamericana grille looks much nicer than the Star grille. I also like the idea of a Maybach grille with a star on the hood like the Maybach EQS SUV. I don't normally appropriate emblems from AMG cars (as a former AMG owner) but in this case, I think the entire concept of a grille is dumb, but if you have to have one, the AMG one is leagues better than the Benz one.

I was asking if MB is going to make the power available for launch control only like the Taycan and then for normal use, the available power is way lower which I answered the question myself but to respond to your comment, I thought the Taycan isn't that light either but come to think of it, it all makes sense one is about fast with mainly luxury and comfort in mind and the other is all about speed as main focus while being luxurious. Thanks for bringing this up.

There is only a minor difference for the rear bumper according to this video youtu.be/bctB__loTLw?t=292 (he is saying the EQS 53 has 3 lines while the normal EQS has 2)

Yup sounds like it.
Agree. Taycan is extremely heavy, but it is also tiny. My wife's old W205 C-Class had more interior room than the Taycan. The Taycan is small. The fact that the EQS weighs only 400lbs more than Taycan is amazing to me and shows Mercedes has done some quality engineering to make a size - 2 segments larger - with such a small weight difference.
