Automatic Comfort Door Package

I have been allocated an Edition 1 but have been told the Automatic Comfort Doors package is not available. Can anyone confirm if this is the case? I am a little surprised that cars are being launched without key features not being available. Should I pass on the car when all the features and quirks are ironed out?
Thoughts would be appreciated.

Did your dealer confirm they have the allocation? I think mine was still waiting

I don't have one on order. I think they are pretty limited though (especially the 580).

Congratulations on snagging an Edition 1 which is really rare. My original order months ago went in with the auto doors. I was recently informed they moved the doors to a package. That package is unavailable and does not even show on the dealer software.
Do you have the two tone black gray or metallic blue? If you don't want it, I will take it. Where is your dealer ?

I’m in Canada and here the Edition 1 is only offered with High-Tech Silver exterior and with Neva Grey/Reflex Blue in Nappa leather interior. Seats, floor mats & seat belts are Neva Grey. Upper dash is Stratos blue Nappa-optic upper with Rose gold stitching and lower dash is Neva grey.

I have a 580 scheduled for October production (US MidWest). It originally had the Comfort Door Package (P24/67B/68B/883) but it was removed last week. Looking at the build sheet it appears that I have also lost soft close feature (883) :-(.

that’s disappointing to hear. I am surprised that premium brand Mercedes has decided to push ahead without these features.

I ask the same question on a different thread. MB needs to at least include soft close doors on their S model EV. It's just too soon to be buying an EQS with the delays for some options (IMO).

I completely agree. I have told the dealer that I may not take delivery if the options are not available. Why should I pay for a S model without the options that are available elsewhere.

EQS
I just picked up mine. Talk about bait and switch! Just discovered that Mercedes left out the door package. I assumed that since it was standard, it was not showing up as an option! All the you tube's were showing them, but alas no! No mention means not available. Feels like I should have checked on every item, including seats!
Any one in the market for a Brand new EQS580?

It was one of the first things they removed due to the chip shortage. Only a very limited number of the very first builds have it. Any yes I am depending on the options if that is a serious question
What trim and what options does it have?

Automatic Doors became unavailable starting Sept-2021 production due to supply chain issues. Only very early demo units have that feature. Unfortunately the control unit that enables this feature is also responsible for soft close - so EQS produced after Sept 2021 don’t have soft close

That is the same thing I was told. The soft close and automatic doors were packaged together so when they axed the automatic doors we didn't get the soft close. Like the song....you don't know what you miss until it's gone. From the description above if the module wasn't included due to chip shortage, it isn't likely that the soft close doors could be included with a software update.

Not sure what the pricing is, but the Canadian edition 1 sounds like something you could pretty much configure yourself with the standard menu. May be a bad deal. The US edition 1 at least has special paint.

I feel this. Hell, I was given summer tires that weren’t even range optimized, when I ordered all season run flats. Not a word from dealer or MB until I pointed it out.

I was going off of the press releases on MBUSA for all the updates on what would be on the car. Multiple posts mention the doors. But none say they took it off entirely. The car is still listed in future vehicles and mentions the doors there! I get the microchip situation, but that should have been a decision on each individual vehicle. I’m working with my dealer on a couple other things that seem to be not as advertised now that I’ve had mine for a few weeks.

The door package has never been available. It was teased on the initial reviews but has never entered production. Not a bait and switch. You should have read the order thoroughly. It has been attributed to the chip shortage.

I've seen EQSs, mostly press cars, in Europe with the auto doors.

You hit it on the head: press cars. I can't vouch for Europe, but in the US it has never been available for order.
