I just ordered a 2022 EQS580 from Mercedes Benz of Monterey. Agreed price is MSRP less rebates available at time of delivery. Sales rep was Don Oster, their USAA rep, who I have worked with before. Donald.Oster@drive.montereybenz.com
He put the order in today, I will update this post when I get a build date.

My build is:
Code Description
297.144 2022 EQS580 4Matic
DY1 Exclusive Trim
996 MANUFAKTUR Cardinal Red Metallic Paint
D10 Enhanced Body Color Rear Spoiler
RWX 21" AMG Multispoke Wheels with Black Accents
R02 All Season Run-Flat Tires
231 AMG Line Black / Space Grey Leather with Red Stitching Accents
61U Black Microfiber Headliner
H39 + 697 Natural Grain "Yacht-Design" Brown Walnut with Aluminum Lines Center Console and Door Trim
445 MBUX Augmented Reality Head-Up Display
DG2 AMG Line Interior Package
B35 Emergency Charging Cable
596 Laminated Safety Glass with Thermal and Noise Insulation
DH0 Automatic Comfort Doors Package
21U Dashcam
943 Integrated Toll Payment System

It will be interesting to see if the order goes through with the Auto doors. my dealer has been trying for months but it will not accept it.

How did you get the comfort door package which is presently restrained?
This is a huge change if you were able to achieve this package.

So far I am at the stage where I gave the salesman the details of what I wanted, and he entered the order into the Mercedes order request system. Interestingly, he said that everything in the build I outlined in the first post was accepted by the system, but the body colored larger rear spoiler doesn't show up on the printable customer facing document the system generates. I'm not sure whether the comfort doors will survive the next step of the process where Mercedes corporate schedules the build - as I understand it, Mercedes can and does remove options as your build gets scheduled. Like so many others here are finding, it will be interesting to see when a new 580 order actually gets scheduled, and what options are confirmed. I would have preferred the night package, which isn’t available for 2022 models, so if it looks like both the night package and soft close doors get pushed into 2023 models, I might postpone my order, especially if delivery gets scheduled in late Q2 or Q3…

I would be willing to wait for the items I want. So if you put in items that are under constraint, will they remove them and continue the build or just wait until the items are no longer constrained? Will you be notified either way?

Your sales rep can see what is and is not in your build in the Mercedes system. As to whether you will be proactively notified, there is no automated system to do that. Typically I check in with my rep at least once a month to see status of the order and to see if anything is changed.

As to the second part of your question, the dealer will happily sell your EQS to someone else if you choose not to take delivery. You are welcome to order another one and get back in line. They will not at least in my experience postpone delivery to wait for an option to become available..

I recently custom ordered a new F-150, and Ford's custom build and tracking system is amazingly better than Mercedes. Everything is online and self-service, and you can see the full status of your build on their website as it makes its way through the various steps of production. You can even track the shipping of your truck as it leaves the factory and makes its way on rail cars towards your dealer...

Yeah, sounds like Minni Cooper. You can follow the progress through the build in England, and thereafter even the shipment and travel through the Panama Canal, with pics!

I just spoke with my rep. Their first customer order for an EQS 580 was booked in June 2021, scheduled for build in mid-January 2022, and expected for delivery in March 2022. His guess is mine will get built in early Q2 2022 and delivered in late Q2 2022, but that's really a guess at this point. He's very clear they know very little about the vehicle or delivery at this point - we probably know more here on the forum.

I ordered a 580 in April after the reveal. My build had every options available. Had negotiated MSRP at time of order. I lost the comfort door on 9/28 due to supply chain. My car is scheduled to be built next week (3rd Decade October). I’m looking forward to getting it but hope not to lose more features due to supply chain.

In 2014 I placed an order for a 2015 Z06 from Kerbeck in New Jersey. At the time I got on the list, several items I wanted were under constraint (no automatics, no glass roofs, no carbon fiber flash ground effects, ...). The dealer had specific allocation weeks and had to place orders during those weeks. So even though I was 9th in line, folks that didn't want the carbon fiber, but may have been further down on the list, were able to get their orders placed first because they had an order with nothing on constraint. In this case my order just sat in the dealer queue until the items I wanted were no longer constrained. I was not asked to order a car I didn't want or reorder at a later date. The dealer just put my order in the system when they knew the constraint had been lifted and based in my place in line at the time. I was hoping that I could do that with the EQS. Provide a configuration to the dealer including comfort doors and maybe rear screens, get an out the door price, provide a deposit, and just wait.

I may be in the minority but I'm not certain I would order Comfort Doors if I were ordering an EQS. While it looks like a cool feature I've seen some videos where they had to fuss with the doors to get them to open properly, kind of a lag before the automation kicked in. Some videos did at least test the doors ability to stop before hitting a person or another car parked next to the EQS. I'm waiting for the EQS SUV coming next year which may also offer optional Comfort Doors. By then I hope to have read many real world experiences with this option so I can make an informed decision to include or skip them.

I thought I was going to get an allocation for October but didn’t because the dealer only got 2 580s for October. They got none for November, December or January. These cars are going to be very sparse.

I've got the equivalent of the comfort doors on my Tesla Model X and don't hate them, but definitely would not miss them if they were gone. They are somewhat a PITA.

@avilent - great build. Look forward to following the rest of your journey. Great news you prenegotiated msrp too. What dealer? Have they become any more knowledgeable since you started your process?

Got my build spec sheet on a 580 that I bought out of dealer allotment:

DY1 Exclusive Trim ($1,575) - appears to adjust for the delete of the Comfort Doors
197 Obsidian Black Metallic
H08 Natural Grain Anthracite Linden Wood
RWY 21" AMG Multispoke Wheels with Black Accents
801 Black/Space Gray Nappa Leather ($1,370)
P21 Air Balance Package ($350) - Note that in the Order Guide, this is part of the Exclusive Trim Package
P53 Energizing Air Control plus with HEPA Filter ($450)
443 Heated Steering Wheel ($250)
444 Heads-Up Display ($1,100)
61U Black Microfiber Headliner ($1,600)
901 Rapid Heating Front Seats ($450)
Destination & Delivery ($1,050)

I might have preferred the upgraded HUD, but everyone says that the version offered is very capable. Maybe the thermal glass.... Otherwise, there's really nothing that I would have changed in the build. Now, they just need to get it shipped.

Estimated delivery date?

I currently have an EQS 580 at the VPC in Long Beach. Does anyone know when they will start arriving in dealer showrooms?

If the W223 launch is anything to go by, expect later than sooner. I know MB wants this product in customer hands before 2022, however there are a lot of constraints of course always going on. My prediction is deliveries around December-February but hopefully it will be earlier.

2018 S560; 2022 EQS450+
I ordered my EQS450+ the day my dealer - southern Ohio - told me I could. Due to costs and taste, the only options I specified were Cardinal Red paint, the ventilation and filter option, and contour seats. It was the first order the dealer took on an EQS.I have a promise in writing that it will be sold to me at MSRP, plus normal dealer costs.
I have been told in the last three days that the car is at the port, awaiting shipment.
I had, at first, intended to trade in my '18 S650, but for a couple of reasons, primarily because my wife told me not to, I've decided not to.
I have taken delivery on an garage ChargePoint charger, and that will be installed once I have a estimated pickup date from the dealer.

I do want to add that in spite of all the highly negative comments about the EQS' appearance, that it does not bother me one bit.

My first Benz was a two-tone (black top, cream body) 1971 300 SEL that I picked up in Vienna for <$10 grand, and drove 105,000 miles.. I have owned several four door sedans,a lovely light blue convertible, and a '12 S 550.

By the way, I am 89 years old, so am sort of excited about having a new toy.

Congrats, very excited to see how the Cardinal Red will look on your EQS.

23 EQS 580 SUV, 19 X7 (sold), 17/14 GLS550 (sold) 13 GL550 (sold)
My local dealer told me they have two EQS 450+ (both for sale) and an EQS 580 (sold) that should arrive by the beginning of December. He said I'm welcome to test drive either EQS 450+.
