But I would consider watching this YouTube channel for the EVSE that best suits you:

Check with your local utility company and see if they offer any rebates/incentives then purchase one from thier list if they have one. I bought the Chargepoint HomeFlex. $699 and I received a $300 check from my utility company PNM.

I've used the Chargepoint for almost 4 years now. It's a great unit. Cost of the unit is $699. Labor and installation is the wildcard. All depends on where your breaker box is in relation to the location that you want the charger installed.

I do like the variable voltage feature of the Chargepoint. Maybe I will consider that ons instead. I also like the design with the LED lighting on the holder. Here is a review comparing the top two chargers.

The Juicebox is now available in a 48 model which matches the speed of the charge point. Juicebox has some unique features, as does the Chargepoint.

Is everyone using a level 2 charger or are some simply using a 14-50 or 6-50 outlet to accomplish charging at home? Tesla also recommends their charger but a 14-50 outlet is fully sufficient.

It's a wild card on price. It depends upon how close your installation is to your breaker box. I've had a plug installed right next to my breaker box for $50. I've paid $700 to have a plug installed across the garage from the breaker box because of the long run of wiring. So, there is no simple answer to the question.

Level 2 chargers use the 14-50/6-50 outlet or can be hard wired. I would go with at least the 14-50 set up with a 60 amp breaker. This will get you the maximum out of most Level 2 chargers such as Chargepoint Flex. You can have it hard-wired if you decide, too. Level 3 chargers are the "superchargers" and to have one at home would run you $50K or more.

It cost me $500, however my electrical panel is in a machine room connected to my garage so it was pretty easy. And this was in early 2020. That's just materials and labor but didn't include the L2 charger which came free with my Porsche.

It's still insane to me that MB is selling a car without providing a L2 portable charger included.

Wow thanks for that information. I mistakenly assumed it would come with a portable cable for use at home with an adapter for the 14-50 outlet and from there I could choose to install a wall charger for a cleaner more "permanent" solution.

I ordered the ChargePoint Wall flex charger several days ago. I really liked the reviews on it. The electrician informed me that he will do the Job by hard wiring. I'm not sure how much the electrician will charge me to bring the wiring from the basement to the garage. I imagine it will be close to $1,000. And you all know that the Charge Point charger costs $699.

For the rest of us, if they added the charger then a lot of us would be paying for a charger we don't need. An L2 charger is not something you keep in your trunk and travel around with. You install it and leave it there.

How much to install a home charger?
How deep is the ocean; how high is the sky?
Get real!

Maybe I sound like an electrician because when I consulted with mine, we discussed such things as in which garage stall would the 450+ be parked for charging, and where did I want the charger…
or, in other words, it’s going to be a tailored solution in most instances.
One size seldom fits all.
The original question did not ask for a range of costs.
