EQS vs Lucid Air
The best direct comparison IMO is Doug Demuro's reviews
Lucid Air
EQS
In short, for Doug's Daily score when you look at features - the Air and EQS tie at 9, for Comfort the EQS wins out at 9 compared to Air's 8, and for Quality the EQS wins out at 8 compared to Air's 7. Also, I wouldn't want my posts to be politically charged, and off-topic to get deleted off the forum that reflect key facts about Lucid's financial backing. Thank you for the censorship.

Really my only issue with the EQS is the styling. I just hate the way it looks, and nothing about the car is going to sway me to spend $120,000 on a car I can't stand to look at.

1) Incomplete software - many features you expect at $140k are missing, such as CarPlay.
2) Lack of local service centers
Also having lived with an EQS for a few weeks now, I cannot imagine driving a car with no roof blind. It sucked in my Tesla, and I have been using the roof blind a lot in the EQS.

For me though there will be a big service center in Tysons, VA
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Maybe if I rented one for a week or two, would be inclined, but as is, will stick with my Lexus LS500 and MB E350 lux cars. I hate the gear shift in the lexus though, and almost traded it in because of trying to get into "N" at the carwash. Grrrr.

Lucid Offering Discounts On Some Cars, And That May Be A Sign Of Low Demand
Barron’s reports that the automaker has already taken to offering incentives to entice people into buying their cars. The automaker has sent out an email to customers who had reserved a Lucid Air, but did not turn that into a firm order, offering them an up to 10 percent discount on a vehicle.
In the email, the discount was framed as a chance to reinstate their order for a Lucid Air Grand Touring at their “original legacy price of $139,000.” Following brand-wide price hikes in June, the base price of a Lucid Air Grand Touring is currently $154,000.
On December 1, meanwhile, Business Insider reported that Lucid was offering employees a discount of up to $18,000, if they took delivery by the end of the year. The automaker said that the discount would be credited to the workers’ paychecks, at the rate of $1,000 per month.
Lucid spokesperson Nat Lingo framed this as a way to honor a request from its team to help reward those “who were interested in driving a Lucid Air every day.” The automaker, though, was also offering 14 Lucid Airs for immediate sale on its website with a 2.81 percent annual finance rate for 72 months, much lower than the rate for the average car loan these days, and amounting to another discount.
Used Lucids, meanwhile, are being listed for 92 percent of their original price. While that may seem like a decent rate of depreciation in normal times, that’s currently a pretty poor resale value. Used Rivians are, by comparison, being listed for as much as 132 percent of their original value.
All of which points to underwhelming demand for Lucid’s superfast, super luxurious electric sedan. Although the automaker would not comment on demand, that these steps are being taken when it still has a backlog of 34,000 orders does not reflect well on the company.
Indeed, investors are feeling wary. Since September 13, the company share price has nearly halved, falling from a high of $16.63 to a low of $8.61 on December 6.

- very basic interior, TBH feels like it was designed by IKEA - I get it, minimalistic design language speaks efficiency, but I think in their pursuit of simplicity they eliminated all the luxury
- the sliding center console “tablet” - really looks cool on videos, in person felt like a gimmick.
- surprisingly, didn’t like the glass canopy - it was super hot in the car on a sunny California day, with A/C freezing my face over and sweating all over my body. Very surprising, but I read on Lucid forums that some people have similar experience.
- front motor is super noisy!! That whine is really annoying - didn’t expect this from a luxury car.
- ride quality was again, not exactly luxury - I guess the lack of air suspension shows
There were a few other things here and there, like it didn’t look as good in person as it did on pictures, a few quality issues with trim, etc. I really wanted to love the car but I realized that it really isn’t what I expected.
And then I went to test drive the EQS - I got out of it with one thought - “this is the best car I’ve ever driven. And I want it.” Exactly opposite experience - I didn’t expect much but it was and is amazing. And in person, it does look great!
So, I would agree that Lucid may be the best electric car overall, but when it comes to luxury - EQS is the clear winner for me!

I get it that electric cars are different animals than those with combustion engines, but Lucid beats even million dollars Bugatti in performance.
When I never did own 2-second car, I did own few 6-second cars and eventually sold them, mostly because my wife on passenger seat would panic when I used the acceleration, so did several male passengers.
That kind of performance is not for everybody and just check "Idiot Corvette drivers" channels on youtube, how many people buy cars they can't handle.
Anyway, just for the kicks, almost a year ago I put $300 deposit on $70k Lucid model. Getting some feedback from son, I did not believe that model will ever see assemble lane.
When company sells production of $170k models year in advance, why would they bother to build cheaper models? Who doesn't agree?
But seems like cheaper models might come to the play in next year, so when I am happy with my 60 mpg Bluetec Mercedes, I love cars and whenever I can afford, I get newer models.
So maybe the dispute will move to E-class section next year?
Good luck with your purchases.
