In fact no, The ceramic coat can be used on a matte car as long as its only the "ceramic" finish. As long as there are no buffing or waxing steps in the application. No problem. it becomes sort of a "micro" additional clearcoat. It gives it a "sheen". Ive never had a "professional" done, but I regularly use Meguiars Ultimate Fast Finish . A ceramic coat is a silicone dioxide containing product. If the car is new, it should not require any "prep," wash, dry and its ready. Spray the stuff on a clean towel, apply and wipe with a dry towel, that's it. A whole car takes 15 min, tops. It will repel water for many mths. The only thing proscribed on a matte finish is anything that contains abrassives "aka polish". Of course, all "regular" waxes include a polising compound; thus, the "never wax the car" warning. After 6 mths to a year when you are going to reapply, you can clay or use a solvent based cleaner to remove tar and other stuck "stuff" before you reapply the ceramic. I had a ton of cars, and I'm a detailing buff. Magno paint is by far the best and easiest paint to take care of. It's also extraordinarily durable. Aside from a rock impact, it will not chip. My windshield was so pitted from sand I had to replace it, still the paint looks new. It makes wraps absolutely unnecessary. If there is something that absolutely benefits from 3m film, it's the headligts. On the EQS I suspect the "grill" would also benefit. Its a 3k optional paint that is worth EVERY PENNY.
