My EQS has been stuck at the Baltimore VPC for a month and my dealer is unable (unwilling) to figure out why it is delayed and when it might get delivered. Love Mercedes its products, engineers, product managers but the lack of agility and transparency on logistics and dealer complacency is disappointing. I realize the world is upside down with supply chain issues and Covid related absenteeism *but* the opacity of the process and wait is really spoiling my purchase experience. Hope Ola addresses gaps in the overall purchase and delivery experience.
This is very annoying; hope they sort it out soon...
Also some of the "inventory" listed by dealers on cars.com is still in transit... I called in to look at a nautical blue that was listed as inventory for couple weeks, they said it's in Baltimore and arrival in couple weeks. These are also cars that were already ordered, so I am not sure what "available inventory" even means these days.
Your dealer likely has no information what is holding up the car. The factory and VPC have been tough to get any information from during production and parts issues. Remember, your dealership is a franchise and MB wants to keep the relationship in good standing with them just like your dealership wants the same with you.
VPC is not just a transfer point, final vehicle outfitting and configuration occur there. If something is backordered to finish the car it could spend quite a long time there☹️
Be happy your car is in the USA and may be in your hands soon. My car was produced 3 weeks prior to yours and still sits at Bremerhaven waiting for a ship. I feel your pain and frustration. I have been in MB since the late 70's and this is the worst situation I have ever experienced. My dealership has been great at communicating but is unable to get solid answers from MB. I have looked at buying cars that are here and available but I truly want the car with the options I ordered. I hope this will be sorted out in the next two years and we all are back on track to buy cars off of the floor plan and order cars that are delivered in a few months. I would be ecstatic if MB reinstated European delivery but probably won't happen in my lifetime.
I had the same issue. My 580 arrived in Baltimore 12/27 and sat until they updated the status on Jan 11 with the dreaded VPC delayed status. The good news is today the status was updated to “Ready” so I’m hopeful to have the car soon! Hopefully your status will change soon also.

Congrats! Hope mine will be as well soon👍 I would love to know how many 580s they planned to build for 2022. It doesn't seem to have been many at all. I dont think any have been delivered at all (in the US) other than press or testers. I read a press release that only 250 collectible "edition one" cars were going to be made.

2022 S580s are out, I'm looking at one on the floor now. There are still allocations coming in but not in any significant number.
I got an update today from the GM at my dealer. First of all, he told me that they now have a firm date that my EQS 580 is going into production on February 8. He said it will take about 30 days so before my car is delivered. Then I asked him if he kew about the horror stories at the VPC and that some folks have been waiting for several months since their car has been stuck there for several months. He said that he knows that but they just cleared up the problem. He couldn't fully explain what the issue was but he thought it may have been some sort of electrical problem. I thought I would tell this to you folks since some of you have been waiting for a long time for your car to arrive from the VPC. He sounded very optimistic that the issue has been resolved.
Still skeptical. VIN produced October 26, finally at Bremerhaven last week but still no ship nor delivery timeline. MB has not done well about communicating the delay issues or expectations. Explain to me how a VIN higher than mine is at a dealer for purchase/delivery while mine is not even assigned a ship?? Sitting at Sindelfingen for 3 months!!! WHY ??
Agreed. EQS 580 Produced Early December waiting on ship, then informed last week, that status moved to factory delayed. There is some issue that MB is working to fix. Playing devils advocate, I rather wait to get a car that works, rather than have one with issues. Anyone out there that has received delivery of a EQS 580? If so, any issues?
For all of you who have EQS' stuck somewhere in Sindelfingen, Bremerhaven or at VPCs (like mine) let me share my hypothesis behind some of these mysterious delays.
1) The global supply chain that impacts a wide industries is in a really bad shape. Chip shortage, sick employees, sick shippers, overwhelmed ports...
2) MB makes a best effort to produce cars around these issues, but most days some the cars that exit building 56 are missing one or many parts.
3) Depending on bad the impact of the missing part and if/where/when it might become available - MB decides ...
a) if the car stays in Sindelfingen (most acute issues - Wheels/brakes/critical systems/drivetrain part)
b) is parked in Bremerhaven awaiting serious parts (secondary control unit - like ambient Light control unit)
c) shipped by sea to a foreign VPC where the missing part will be installed (non critical systems that still prevent retail sale - missing virtual reality camera...)
My EQS580 (mid 6000s VIN#) was built Nov-9-2021 and is a fully spec'ed config (every available option at time of production)
It stayed two weeks in Sindelfingen
Left Bremerhaven on Nov-29-2021
Arrive in Baltimore on Dec-18-2021
Has been stuck there since
I had to bug my dealer weekly for update
When on Jan-11-2022 the status switched to "VPC Delayed D30" I implored them to inquire as to the cause
Two weeks later they came came back and said "waiting on piece(s) to complete the car." with no further color
I love MB, its products, its people, understand that they are dealing with very challenging circumstances - I understand MB AG must be in financial pain as my $140K car hasn't been invoiced yet to the deal (whom I paid in December) - I am worried about the impact on the car of being parked outside in Baltimore for 2 months on a low SOC (TransOceanic shippers require HV battery to be at low level for safety) - but really wish MB improved its transparency and communications.

The cars will be fine. That's what the VPC is for. They're supposed to get the car "up to snuff" before delivery.
I am in the same boat as all of you. I have an EQS 450+ Exclusive build that has been sitting in Long Beach VPC since early Jan 2022. I have an existing 2019 E300 and that lease expired a few days ago. I called MBFS and gave them my EQS PO. They told me that the new "projected delivery date" for my car was end of March so they let me extend my lease by a couple of months.
My dealer is getting annoyed by my phone calls and says she has no way to check the status. She will contact me ASAP when my EQS rolls in on a truck one day with the other new MBs.
So my 580 was Baltimore VPC “ready” on 1/20. Then “released to carrier” on 1/21. My dealer is in Ohio. Anyone have any experience on how long it will take to get to my dealer and ultimately to me? I’m so ready to have this car
Pre Pandemic it could take 3-10 days for car to go from Baltimore to Midwest. Once in “released to carrier” status the car is moved to a parking lot at VPC under carrier control where cars are pooled until 4-6 vehicles have been accumulated for your destination. Transport itself is 1-2 days, the challenge is carriers can only deliver during dealership business hours, so they will typically be breaking the journey to arrive mid-day.

Has this production delay stuck in VPC issue been resolved?
My dealer shared that on 1/31/22 my EQS was processed by the VPC and made it to "Released to Carrier" status. Unfortunately because of the massive storm impacting the MidWest, the car is probably still on VPC grounds. With some luck I'll see the fully loaded EQS next week.
