Can you use spotify without apple carplay
I’m not a big fan of Apple CarPlay and I’m coming from a Tesla that had the Spotify app built in. Is there a way to use Spotify as an app through the car? Or can I only use Spotify through my cell phone via Bluetooth? I also enjoy Apple Music and would have the same question if there’s an app that I can load in to the car? I have the eqs 450+

Yes, EQS has a Spotify app built in but it requires that you sign up for the data package. I did the $240 for a full year, unlimited data. Apple Music is also supported although I personally haven't been able to get it to work. Spotify works great.

Yes. I’m with you on the Apple CarPlay. First you need to have the Wi-Fi hotspot (data package) activated on the car. Once you do that go to the media section. You will see “Online Music” on the top of the screen. There you will have to scan a QR code and log in though your phone. For Spotify you will need Spotify Premium in order to use it directly though the car. You can also have Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Tidal as well.

I have talked to some friends at MBUSA and they have told me there is a cross connection with Apple Music. They are aware of the issue but dont have an ETA on the fix

I can’t remember exactly the steps but I think I tried to launch Apple Music in the car and it said I needed a data package. There was an option to sign up which I did and it launched the browser in the car. I completed all the steps there and it sent me an email to my email address. I clicked on that link on my iPhone and completed the rest using the phone browser included paying for the data plan. In summary, started the process in the car and completed it on my phone after the email verification step. Hope that helps.

Or does the car have data but restricts use of data for streaming without the data plan?
