I grew up in harsh winters and love winter tires and will never settle for four-seasons.
I suspected that was the case. Its also a pain that they wont sell their wheels through other sources so you can get the tire you want in the first place.

Paint seems to glisten more without giving a deep shine, just my opinion.

Correct. Exactly what you want. The ceramic coat really doesn't shine. Its a sealant that protects the paint. That's why you should do it on new paint. If your paint is already weathered, it doesn't do much other than make water bead.

A full scope invasion of Ukraine would impact almost the entire world in a negative way. I pray that there is still some sort of diplomacy is still in play. Putin thinks he's the second coming of Peter the Great.

The wheels on the CLS in your sig are ricey. Kinda makes your opinions seem ridiculous

Are you agreeing with him? He is trying to say Xpel ceramic sealant makes matte paint (that has already been covered by clear plastic) glisten.

There are still "feasibility lanes" though. You want your car to fit in with the fast-n-furious crowd. It's just not feasible for you to take your ricey sense of taste and offer an opinion with it to the folks here.

I'd hardly consider my car to fit your (racist) description. It's stock aside from my HRE's But I do appreciate your thoughts And plus, that EQS is so ugly LMAO.
I do understand the verbal felicio that brings/reassures guys cars together though. We also have that type of comradery in the AMG section

Please keep in ind that is a public forum and members can state their opinions. A very common occurrence when people mod their cars; not everyone is happy with the opinions or ridicule of others but that’s part of the package.
That said, it’s not very courteous when an owner shows off his new more or less stock ride. That’s what general model threads are for…

1) Color - I went for Designo Grey. This is my 1st car w/ Matt finish and was apprehensive of maintenance but loved the look, This color is amazing on the EQS and changes significantly between titanium taint and grey. I opted to fully protect the paint with XPEL Satin and XPEL ceramic coating on the PPF.

2) Modifications - I love AMG Night package but it isn't available in the US on EQS580 (only on EQS AMG) so I got the windows tainted and "de-chromed" the one-bow with black PPF. I love it, my sons love it but my wife says it looks cheesy - Curious to get your opinion.

3) Winter Wheels - I am in the midwest and a believer in winter tires - I ordered the EQS AMG 19" long range wheels from Germany and mounted them with OE Pirelli Scorpios. These are the wheels MB uses to achieve the highest range in Europe. 19" is ideal for midwest winters.

3) I have the rear seat package and performed a measurement to give you a sense of how much the seats recline. At the top of the seat you can recline 2.5" (~ 6 cm) - Huge difference in comfort. My sons are 6' and 6'3" and fit well in the back.

4) Rear seat functions (Pinnacle + Rear Package) - tons of amazing comfort features - neck warming - different massage types - highly configurable lumbar support - Awesome

Seat Forward

Sear Backward

5) Air filtration and monitoring - Out of this world capabilities - Shames my Tesla "BioHazard" filtration

Will conduct a real-life 270mi midwest cold weather range test and share results at the end of the month (Tesla Model S 100d - Can't pass this test)

I can share that the long wait for my EQS was worth it!
Looks amazing. I have the same color on order. The one question that I have not been able to get answered - does the passenger screen part of the hyperscreen come with a Mercedes branded bluetooth headset? I have seen it in use in some videos but not sure if that is an aftermarket accessory. I can see my son using it. thx

I don’t get one with my base 580. I’m not sure if it is included in higher trim packages.

Tesla Model S
500mi in Midwest Initial Observations (vs Tesla Model S)

I've now been driving my EQS580 for about a week including a 270mi and 180mi MidWest drives.

Comfort & Drive
  • EQS wins hands down on all front
  • Awesome seating comfort (I have AMG seats)
  • Great massages
  • Amazing pot-hole management (car warns me ahead and adjusts suspension)
  • Sportiness driving behavior - Better steering dynamics than Tesla
  • Mind boggling turning radius
  • 4WS a bit weird @ 50mph - may take some getting use
  • visibility is excellent

Fit & Finish
  • Flawless interior
  • Hyperscreen is exquisite
  • Strangely my car was missing the plastic cover that hides the trunk release - probably lost at dealership or VPC during prep - I dislike and distrust my dealer so much that I don't want to attempt getting replacement
  • Due to supply chain my car was downgraded to 64 color Ambient lighting and I wish I had the original 256 color version

Range & Charging
  • My car spent 2 months in VPC in cold at low SOC so it estimates max range as 300mi - unlike my Tesla this is a real 300mi - When my Tesla says 285mi it typically means 220mi. I'm driving on winter tires, and my driving style is opposite of HyperMiler. I am hoping that my battery wasn't damaged and range will improve on summer tires
  • Supercharging was flawless 20-80% in 30min by only plugging in my car in the L3 charger @ O'Hare
  • Haven't yet found a way to activate my Chargepoint card - UI on MB app not clear
Experienced a few Bugs (that I hope will be fixed with software)
  • Video lagging issue frequent with iPhone 13 Max
  • Get the weird steering wheel 6 point message every 2-3 days
  • Got non-user friendly error messages about HV errors when 12VDC battery was low from spending 2months in cold @ VPC
  • Once had a ambient light system failure - but self fixed itself after reboot
  • Would love a few software enhancements
    • Please Please Please MB let me display temperature in Celsius even if I live in the US!!!! I can do it on every other brand - It is so weird to have a German car that can't deal with Celsius
    • Please activate ADB now that the US Govt has finally approved this tech
    • Please give us more configuration options on temperature control to save energy - I.e. only driver control on!
    • Enable geolocation for Homelink (a la Tesla)
    • Please let us use MB Navigation and Waze simultaneously (MB for direction - Waze for Red/Blue warning)
Odd insights
  • Shape of vehicle means that it gets dirty easily - dirt spreads perfectly on the bubble

Overall ownership satisfaction
  • Absolutely no regret !
  • Love the car
  • Wish MB would dump its dealers and go electronic
  • Wish MB was more transparent on delays and ETA
  • I will buy an EQS SUV 580 as soon as it rolls of the Vance assembly line!

Avilent, I'm curious about a couple items: Did it come with the Energizing Comfort and the fragrance system as ordered or as standard features? I'm wondering since there was some talk that they may not be available due to the chip shortage. Also, how do you like the autopilot system? For how long does it drive itself on the highway without touching the steering wheel? When this system warns you to get ahold of the steering wheel, do you actually have to grab the wheel or is it just a touch? I believe the only difference between your build and mine is that yours has the AMG interior and mine does not. Thanks.

You get the warning after 15 seconds. I would not take my hands off the wheel. While I love the car, I must say the ability to keep the lane is a little better in Tesla. The lane change is much smoother. At night, the car also projects on the ground the targeted lane change - looks pretty cool

@avilent Were you able to get 270 miles on the 19" winter wheels? I could not in cold weather with the 21".

That’s quite disappointing to me. Why in the world can a 2019 S Class drive itself for at least a minute without a warning and the EQS only 15 seconds? That doesn’t make any sense to me.
