EQS580 - Well worth the wait!

I finally received my EQS back from the detailer last night and can share initial impressions...

1) Color - I went for Designo Grey. This is my 1st car w/ Matt finish and was apprehensive of maintenance but loved the look, This color is amazing on the EQS and changes significantly between titanium taint and grey. I opted to fully protect the paint with XPEL Satin and XPEL ceramic coating on the PPF.

2) Modifications - I love AMG Night package but it isn't available in the US on EQS580 (only on EQS AMG) so I got the windows tainted and "de-chromed" the one-bow with black PPF. I love it, my sons love it but my wife says it looks cheesy - Curious to get your opinion.

3) Winter Wheels - I am in the midwest and a believer in winter tires - I ordered the EQS AMG 19" long range wheels from Germany and mounted them with OE Pirelli Scorpios. These are the wheels MB uses to achieve the highest range in Europe. 19" is ideal for midwest winters.

3) I have the rear seat package and performed a measurement to give you a sense of how much the seats recline. At the top of the seat you can recline 2.5" (~ 6 cm) - Huge difference in comfort. My sons are 6' and 6'3" and fit well in the back.

4) Rear seat functions (Pinnacle + Rear Package) - tons of amazing comfort features - neck warming - different massage types - highly configurable lumbar support - Awesome

Seat Forward

Sear Backward

5) Air filtration and monitoring - Out of this world capabilities - Shames my Tesla "BioHazard" filtration

Will conduct a real-life 270mi midwest cold weather range test and share results at the end of the month (Tesla Model S 100d - Can't pass this test)

I can share that the long wait for my EQS was worth it!

2022 Mercedes EQS 580
Congratulations. This looks amazing. My favorite color and I ordered one with this color too.

Also love that you dethroned the windows and the lower chrome trim on the side doors. Looks immaculate.

Also interesting review of the Pinnacle rear seats. They sound great! I won’t be getting those since my son is still in a rear facing car seat, and the pinnacle package comes with rear side impact airbags which aren’t recommended with convertible car seats.

Do you have a picture with the 21” AMG wheels or only with the winter wheels?

Beautiful car! I personally love the chrome delete and I’m getting the same done on my white 580 this coming week.

Beautiful, I already contacted my PPF shop to get the wrap and ceramic on my AMG EQS when it arrives, hopefully gets on the boat this month, same color scheme. The magno really pops with the ceramic! Do you know what tint % you installed on the windows and did you have the laminated safety glass with infrared protection from the factory?

Gorgeous car - congratulations! Can't wait to hear your report on the 19" winter wheels. Range with the 21" winter wheels is cut down quite a bit - I am estimating temp has to be around 35F to get 270 miles range. It was 15F around here today, with a little bit of wind. I managed 495 Wh/mi for an estimated range of 204.

I really like the way your 19" winter look on the car. Good choice! How much did it cost to ship them out of Germany?

I would love details on costs and logistics for getting the 19 inch wheels. What is wrong with Mercedes not providing them as an option!?

I purchased the wheels from AlloyWheelDirect
https://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/me...ss_v297_alloys

I have used that vendor for several transactions on BMWs and Mercedes vehicles. Wheels arrive w/in 10 days of purchase. Shipped directly from Germany via UPS Air for about $350

My 580 does have the laminated safety glass and infrared windshield from factory. The window tint is 30% visible light in back and rear and 65% visible light in front windows.

I have a weekly commute of 270mi between Indy and Milwaukee. My Tesla Model S 100D requires a 15min supercharging stop to complete the journey in Summer & Winter. Will make my first run next weekend and report on the EQS’ performance.

Do the regular S class wheels fit the EQS?
Another good vendor that ships from Germany wheels and winter tires is: https://www.xn--original-rder-kfb.de/

Really nice color, I love it! I was too chicken to order it with mine. lol I also love the black out looks super with the matt grey, great idea.
I'm not in cold weather so opted for 22", I believe for esthetics the bigger the wheel the better the ride looks.

looking forward to you trip review.

How did you order the wheels, and what size are the tires? I am partial to Michelin. I am very happy with my PA5. I've had scorpions before, and their snow and ice performance is not as good. They Scorpions are fine for dry winter conditions.

Kind of rude to say that about someone else's personal car that they are excited about, could have simply just not posted at all.

I do not know for sure but doubt that the EQS and W223 will share wheels. The key issue with wheels is to ensure enough clearance for calipers and wheel wells. The EQS has a thick cogwheel used for Regen that is likely to increase the internal clearance (ET).

I ordered the wheels (with TPMS sensors) from Europe and used the MBUSA tire program to get matching OE winter tires. In the US we only get Pirelli Scorpion for winter but the nice thing about the MBUSA program is that the tires are mounted/balanced by your dealer a fixed price.

I would have preferred Michelins PA5 but they aren’t available through MBUSA. I wanted to stick to the exact tire size associated with the wheels. Winter tires are not widely used in the USA so we have a lot less choice than in Canada or Europe where they are mandated. I grew up in harsh winters and love winter tires and will never settle for four-seasons.

It’s okay. It’s not cool to persecute mentally ill people any more. Plus we all know it’s age related in your case.

Maybe you're right. But persecution of opinions is quite normal in today's society. All one has to do is whine, cry, report when they're feelings are hurt by
any different/dissenting opinion. Then, deflect/defer by mental status and or age
