As much as I dislike the looks and driving position of the EQS, I would choose it over the i7 I think. Much better range...if I loved the i7 I could put up with the range, but "love" is not a word that I would use lol

The range is also not very impressive, BMW is estimating 290-310, which is fine for a $60k EV, but not a flagship imo. Even an EQS SUV will likely beat its range, that would be my pick of the EQ bunch at the moment.

Totally agree, compared to the EQS, the Teslas, the Lucid the range of the i7 is terrible.

We’ve gone through this before. Peace! Just curious. Are you less than 50 years old? I’m guessing you are. Perhaps a lot of younger folks don’t like the looks of the of the EQS. However, my experience has been that even younger people like the looks of my car.

Yes I am, and that doesn't make sense. I would expect that more younger people would like it vs older people...thats certainly Mercedes' intention.

You make a good point. Some older folks may get confused about the tech features and probably don’t care for the radical design of both the outside and inside of the car. I admit that I’m wrong on my assumption on my other post above.

This 7 Series is growing on me the more I see it, at first I was quite negative. I do like it more than the EQS sedan which I hate, but I do like the EQS SUV.
Having had a S580 for 2 months, I disagree that the S Class finish is better than the EQS580 which I now own. The S Class rattled like a tin can and it could not handle bumps in the road well. Its 3-2 downshift when coming to a stop was noticeably rough. Other than soft close doors, my EQS is outfitted with the same quality materials and options. It is as quiet as the S, faster and its hyper screen is far better than the tablet screen in the S Class. By the way, including my S Class, there are 4 used 2022 S Classes sitting for sale at my dealership .... been there over 3 months. Looks like I am not the only one that was disappointed. I would have never bought the EQS if the S class had been satisfactory.

And with a front license plate it’s even worse!
My parents had a 2000 BMW which I really liked. There’s absolutely nothing BMW makes today that I want to own.

BMW owns the ugly car market! I used to keep a BMW for road trips and the under powered E300 for town driving. I don't do road trips anymore.

I’ve had both good and poor feelings and experiences with 6 and 7 series BMWs but it’s been at least a decade since I drove/owned one.

Love both our ’18 S560 and EQS450+.

Both the EQS and the i7 are ugly IMO, just ugly in different ways.

The materials in the EQS are a step below the S Class for sure, I can sit in both and point out to you all of the various differences. In fact I was at MB the other day and drove the S580, EQS sedan and EQS SUV, the feel inside both the EQSs is more like say a GLS than it is S Class. Hard plastics down low on the console etc, no availability of even higher end materials like you have in the S Class. The basic headliner in the EQS has hard vinyl sunshades etc. The hyperscreen is cool, but I hate the really tall dash and the down in a tub feeling you get in the EQS sedan, thats much better in the EQS SUV.

If I were going to get an EQS, I would get the SUV, but they're just not for me. As I figured, I liked the way both EQSs drove and rode very much, for me its just the styling I don't like. You clearly had a crummy S580, which is obviously happening to people but of the 3 cars I drove, the S580 is the one I would choose. I just much prefer the looks, the interior, the fact that its a normal car in layout and design. From a ride perspective they are very similar, but the EQS both Sedan and SUV feel boatier and less sharp, which I would imagine is because of their weight.

There are always a bunch of pre-owned cars like this available, there are several used EQSs at my dealer, back when I got my S560 there were several same year and one year old S Classes, same was true at BMW with 7 Series. People who buy/lease these things often trade out of them after a year etc and on to something else.

The fact is that these are different cars. One is an electric "conversion job" the other is a 100% EV. As an EV the EQS is better than the Bimmer in all respects, longer range, faster charging, faster, and better handling. The only thing better in the 7 is back seat room. I don't know about anyone here but I never "chauffer" and my tallest 5 foot 8 kid fits just fine with more than 3 inches of headroom. Yes, the EQS is more spartan than the S class or the 7 as far as sybaritic comfort is concerned but it compensates by a much more appealing, leading edge interior design. And lets face it the 7 is quite frankly a design turd inside and out, it tries too hard to look modern and ends up as a turd sprinkled with shiny bling parts. Like the X, its the worst BMW design ever...makes me yearn for the widely panned Bangle times. Even those turds looked a lot better than this. I miss the times when Bimmers were "teutonically" sporty yet elegant.

I actually love the 7er's interior design, I think it is for once superior to the S, the problem is the front end of the car is horrendous. Side and rear is fine to me.

This 7 was absolutely designed from the get go to be an EV. I want a car that looks like a car, if the EQS is an example of what a "ground up EV" has to be then I pass. I much prefer cars like say the EV Genesis G80 to the new EQ cars from MB.

What I want to see is a true S Class with an EV powertrain. I like the powertrain from the EQS I just can't stand the styling inside or out. I don't like this 7 Series either, but I dislike them for different reasons.

I highly doubt the EQS will handle better than the i7, the EQS is not a great handling car at all.

Just too blingy for me inside, but I like the inside more than the outside.

The crystal designs everywhere is a bit much, I agree there, but I do like the general layout and the nice mix of new materials and designs.
