BMW i7 vs Mercedes EQS
BMW clearly went in a different direction with their flagship EV. I would imagine this might appeal to people who want something more traditional.
Pluses:
- Same level of luxury and finishes as ICE
- Non Aerodynamic look similar to ICE version (if you like that sort of thing)
- Some beautiful detailing and finishes on the interior like the ambient lit crystal trim.
Negatives
- Less range
- I think the giant screen in the back looks terrible, and the small screens in front are not as useful as the hyperscreen
- Looks a bit post apocalyptic

EQS is true luxury if you option it as such. BMW didn't beat anybody. Yes there are some slightly nicer finishes in the BMW. But this is also true if you compare the GLS and the X7, or the 5 Series and E-Class. Most people still prefer the Mercedes.

EQS will never be "true" luxury. Think S, Bentley and Rolls as true luxury. Eqs is true tech and convenience.

I've owned (or own) 6 Mercs, and have owned 3 BMWs. Generally love both marques. However, the i7 is just butt ugly, IMHO. And the back seat screen was apparently designed by the designers of the current Cowboys staduim. The EQS is definitely the S of EVs (if I cared about the ICE version, I would have bought that!), and is luxurious, elegant, sporty, a mileage king, and generally a fantastic vehicle. So glad I didn't wait on BMW. YMMV.

I agree with places, but it will be the first EV full size sedan with long range and semi-luxury. EV cars will be more competitive as they evolve, but for now we have the EQS that broke the ground. So, the question is Tesla vs EQS in luxury, Keeping it fair. EV's are going to be more luxurious in time.

And BTW your particular S-Class is a cheapo model with a 6 cylinder e-class engine.

I've owned my share of V8 S cars. I'm secure enough to enjoy my cars and not compare them to something they are not, it's just a car. I can buy just about anything I want.
You seem to be all about status.

Looks like the German configurator is available, only good color for this car is black.

LOL...Eqs and S will never be the same. Sorry, wishful thinking. We have all read for years the comparisons. Don't recall a comparison between the eqs and a Bentley or Rolls. Stick with Tesla.

Can securely own anytthing he wants, but, instead, chooses to criticise what we have chosen.
Clearly doesn't understand the new paradigm of the EV, which is where our minds are. We're not comparing them to ICE S cars.....he is.
Wishing he would change places.
See what I did there?

That my friends is what I consider utterly FUGLY. Anyone that thinks that looks better than an EQS is either blind, high, mentally disturbed or has not an ounce of design art common sense. Gross.

Owned several Bimmers - 7's, GT's, X6's etc. EQS is second Merc i have owned. The EQS is absolutely luxury. My 2 cents.
BMW has been asleep at the wheel a bit with design and tech it feels, and are playing catch up. Im not wealthy enough to be driven, so I have learned while cool screens in the back are always super cool, I NEVER get to enjoy it anyway - so the value of it goes down.
I think i should make more money so i can be driven more often. :-)

We all know what we want and then we make that investment. If you are like me you don’t by six figure car without knowing something about it. So our purchase was base on the future and where it will takes from here. Just to make a point, no one has come up with a hyphen screen like EQS or AI that it has. All other manufactures have the same format, a little screen on top of steering wheel and screen in the center. I can be here talking of all the values the EQS brings to the table, but I will keep it simple. EQS is a luxury vehicle on its own class and I thought that what member place was going with this conversation. Now in October 2022 more EV’s will release, but none like the EQS technology. Like one the members said, you can not compare it to any ICE vehicle. I’m trying to learn from you all about EQS not other manufactures I did my research, I love my EQS, I love it so much that I slept in the couch for calling it "My Babe".
Future: environmentally friendly, the Jetsons and self sub stain. . Don't judge, just trying to bring the conversation back to EQS. Oh!! by the way, Tesla and Daimler AG parent of Mercedes Benz are in bed together, Mercedes help develop Tesla and Tesla help Mercedes develop their EQ Vehicles. Why? The future of EV. Source: Tesla buying Mercedes/AMG? - MBWorld.org Forums, Have any doubts research it. Investment like I mentioned.

And BTW whenever I ride in the back of a car like this (e.g. taking Uber Lux in Europe) I am usually making calls and doing work so I don't need a screen like that.

Basicly they are transforming the seven into a thinly disguised, cheaper version of the Rolls. Something akin to the S class and Maybach. BTW I find the Maybachs horrible gauche too, the ultimate expression of nouveau riche...... a silly glitzy badge everywhere you look.

This 7 Series is growing on me the more I see it, at first I was quite negative. I do like it more than the EQS sedan which I hate, but I do like the EQS SUV.

That screen is such a dumb idea. Obstructs the rear view. Not something you would want your kids getting addicted too. I bet it looks crap when it is folded away and messes with the clean look of a glass roof.

BMW has lost all sense of design and aesthetic.
