Has anyone experienced that your EQS car is at dealership and dealer hasn’t informed you?
I see the vin number given to me, is on sale at dealers website.
which is odd.
and dealer / sales person is saying he doesn’t know where my car is.

Ca is probably not there yet. MBUSA uploads the car to the dealers website once it gets to the VPC. Netstar is down until Monday so the dealer can't check the current status.

that doesn’t mean the car is at the dealership. Some dealers outsource inventory reporting to a company which automatically updates inventory on various websites. This could just mean they have paid Mercedes for the inventory. Doesn’t mean it’s on the lot.

VPC = Vehicle Prep Center Located at the ports in Brunswick, Baltimore etc. They pull the car from the ship and prep it for truck shipment to the dealer.

Is that always the case? I am looking at a EQS on my local MB dealership web site and the dealership says it’s still in Germany.

I must have misunderstood you. I interpreted your post that once the car was on the dealership site that meant that it had at least reached the VPC.

Yes, that's what I said. It is supposed to work that way. Having a car on the website that is still in Germany is a mistake.

Apparently the inventory system is still down and will be until Thursday and I am curious to find out then where the car is located. Last Saturday at the dealership they told me it was in transit and could arrive any day. This morning when I made the deposit electronically I was then later told it was built but still in Germany. I asked the salesman why the different stories since the inventory system was down both Saturday and today and he could not give me a answer except “that’s what I was told.”

You used to be able to track the ship on the WWL website. Someone said it doesn’t work anymore, but someone else said the track and trace site for WWL does work. Said to put your vin number in for customer reference number. I’ve tried but keeps saying no record. I’ve even tried my p.o. Order number to no avail. My salesman gave me the name of the ship my car is on so I can track the movement of the ship on marine traffic app.

Takes me back to last autumn - dlr salesman gave me ship’s name.I tracked it through several schedule and port changes and across the Atlantic to over here.
Then things go dark, and I’m sweating out the year end for the tax credit.
Long story short, I took delivery on Dec 27th and locked up the tax credit. 👍😊

Just heard from the dealer. The car is in Transit. ETA 8/31 to VPC. How long before it reaches the Dealer? I can track the ship very generically but not the VIN. Any helpful hints?

I don’t believe anyone can give a creditable answer at this point. The transport system in the U.S. is currently not in great shape with a lack of drivers and broke trucks waiting on repair parts due to low supplies. Will depend on available space on a particular truck and which direction it is going. I just had a car delivered from California to Texas and it took over 5 weeks. Hopefully Mercedes has some clout with the industry and is better prepared than most. My EQS is still sitting in Germany so I am behind you …..

They really don't. Some of the cars are being delivered from the VPC on single and two car trailers because there aren't enough vehicle haulers to move them in bulk.

As a datapoint, my car reached the VPC two weeks ago, and we *think* it's in transit to the dealer now. That's because their logistics system has been down from late last week until noon today. My dealer called me right at noon and told me my car wasn't in the system - and he said that typically happens in the brief period between it leaving the VPC and going to whoever is trucking it to the dealer. So he's optimistic a truck will show up "very soon". After dealing with the continuing degrading service with Tesla, I've been surprised at how poor the actual tracking process is with MB. My dealer has been very good about being responsive, and checking, but he doesn't have much information a lot of the time.

Could be days, could be weeks. Depends on how far you are from the VPC, whether the car needs updates or other work when it arrives and how many trucks are available.

Is your car on the Tirranna? I see that is due in Baltimore on 8/31. Mine is on the next ship for Baltimore, the Themis. It was originally supposed to get to Baltimore on 4 September but sat anchored in the English Channel for about 5 days. It finally moved last night. Now scheduled to get in on September 8.
