Anyone get the Wi-Fi hotspot working?
I’ve purchased and activated the hotspot in my 2022 EQS. Tested it with a laptop. It connects, but no access to the internet.
All other internet services— including browser app on the MBUX —work fine.

I have the exact same problem. I swear the after-sale services are a waste of money. Thanks for reminding me that I need to bring this up during my next service along with the $200 per year charge for the hobbled dashcam.

I have the exact same problem - Been 9 months trying to get it fixed. T-mobile(DeutcheTelecom) blame Mercedes, Mercedes blames T-mobile. Reported several times. Have difficulty getting the problem understood.
The browser on the Mbux only works if I have a T-mobile subscription so the service is getting that far. I checked by cancelling the service - then the browser did not work on the Mbux. Re-subscibed and the browser worked - but only when parked.
The wifi works in the car but no internet. It is as if there is a cable missing between the modem and the wifi router.
If I connect a laptop to the wifi it shows connected, no internet.

Same issue here. GLA 250. I have a friend from Germany visiting me right now and I told her she can use the WiFi in my car. Yesterday it worked fine and today her phone was able to connect but showed no internet connection. I tried to connect my iPhone and had the same issue. I checked the settings and the car was online.

When I had our 2017 Volvo XC90 T8 in California, I had to approach ATT and provide them the information relevant to the built in modem. Once they had the info they were able to activate the system. After that the car performed as a hot spot connecting with the internet. So I believe it is a issue to resolve with the cell company rather then Mercedes. Kind of similar to getting your cell phone functional. By the way does anyone know if the modem in the car is 4g or the new 5g?

It is really hard to get info on whether it is 4g or 5g. I would hope given this their first electric car, that current technology would prevail. I tried calling Mercedes Connect and I believe they hung up on me following my inquiry of which modem tech they are using. Any ideas on how to find out? The reason it is important, 5g is so much better then 4g. Bandwidth is great along with speed. My Apple iPhone 13 pro max and now the 14 pro max are both 5g.

Page 451 of the '23 EQS SUV Owners Manual shows technical specs for 2 way radio that includes 3G/4G/5G. It then refers one to the Digital Operators manual for further regularatory information.

5G would perhaps be future proof but not in the way 4G replaced 3G. For what in the car do you need bandwidth that LTE cannot provide? The only thing I can think of is maps database update over the air, a couple times a year you would have a new road included seconds earlier (somewhere else in your country
), except that the MB server is not providing bandwidth anything close to what 4G can handle. Then you need to drive the slow route via city centres to get 5G coverage at least shortly during your trip. Did I say I hate blind enthusiasm. ![Mad](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)

The car acts as a hot spot once you secure cellular service. I contacted MBUSA and they said that TMobile handles the cellular service for the EQS. At $10 per month you get 2 gigs of data. For $20 you get 5 gigs of data plus taxes and fees. So when you are driving passengers can use the car as a hot spot. So bandwidth and speed can improve performance. I was also told by MB that their MBUX version 8 will have 5g. I had hopped that the EQS would warrant the best?
In my country nobody in the car has volume limited data on their smart phones. Why on earth would any of my passengers use the shared hot spot from the car, all of them sharing a single source when they can all have a similar source without sharing.
Coming back to the US, higher bandwidth (bandwidth here means bitrate, speed, the cellular radio bandwidth is not relevant) may help but only if passengers in your car consume more than 4G/LTE can offer. 4G typically gives 100 mbit/s, say 30 mbit/s for each of your three passengers. The best quality video stream on a smartphone screen needs nothing like that. Is it useful if passengers need full HD video and the car can offer 10 of those streams for each?

Sounds like a third world issue, but they have very few EQS cars.
