No joy on placing the transponder here. I had the same problem in the Teslas I owned. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
If you look at the windshield from the outside from Passenger side. You will see a rectangle to the right of the mirror few inches down. Place it in there. I had the same issue. Hope this helps. You cant see the rectangle from the inside.
Sure - move it down. Test it in a lower position.Locate the correct position for the tag — the upper center portion of your windshield behind the rearview mirror, at least 1 inch to the right of the mirror and ...
Check your windshield from the outside. There should be 2 slightly darker rectangles, one high and one low, where a transponder will work. That is the way it is on my W213. Excuse the reflections in the pic. It is the best I could do because the areas are designed to be almost invisible.
There is only one location on the windshield that looks remotely possible. If I had to ride as a passenger frequently, this would drive me crazy. I'm missing something.
Shine a light on the winshield sideways it will reveal the "hole". Check amazon for a trans ponder cover. They are cheap and cover up the horrible white box.
The picture I posted above shows that as well. However the transponder doesn't work in that location. And there is nothing showing by shining a light source on it from the outside. I'm posting a new photo with the only area showing is where I have it mounted now. My wife got in the car and said WTF is that? I said not to worry, you'll get used to it after tens of thousands of miles.
The view of this photo is from the top looking down. I can't see any other place it can go.
I live in Indiana and front plates aren't required. Has anyone ever put a transponder on a front plate?
People are funny - the white box doesn't bother either of us - would never spend $$ to cover it.
For me its worse than (insert largest bird you can imagine) leaving a turd on my widshield. Why does it have to be WHITE AND HUGE. Many systems elsewhere have a credit card type transponder. The I PASS is horrible. I know first world problem....

Human nature is a wonderful thing ‼️
Instead of me complaining about a “turd,” I see a super convenient tool that allows us to create drive right on through without stopping! 👍😃👍

I agree with you 100%. This style is at least 15 y/o. But then I find Mercedes somewhat to blame also for this erroneous diagram.

this is exactly how you find the RF window next to the mirror.
