2023 EQS 580 sedan - Extended time in Pre-Delivery Inspection

My 2023 EQS 580 sedan was received by the dealership on 11/15. They said it should be ready in two days for pickup. Thursday pickup turned into Friday ("maybe Saturday morning... we need to install additional updates"). Heard nothing Saturday. Received a text Monday morning (11/21)... They need to replace a control module, and (of course) the part has to come from Germany.

So I am now 7 days post-expected delivery date. I am thankful that the electrical issues were caught before delivery.

Call me a fool, but I am confident they will resolve the issues and it will be everything I expected and more. The car is perfect. The only deviation from my build was all-season tires instead of the summer tires I spec'd.

I can live with that.

I will keep you updated.

PS - I've now been waiting 50 weeks to get this car!

The wait is always tough but the fact it is a the dealership is good news. If it was still in Alabama I’d be worried. 😊

I thought the VPC was supposed to do those last minute updates. At least yours is at the dealer. My 580 is still in Baltimore even though it was released close to two weeks ago. In the meantime my dealer has received 2 580’s that were built after mine. I’ve been hearing any day now for quite a while.

The parts shortage is no joke. I just spend 9 weeks without my EQS because they were waiting on a part. Hopefully whatever needs to be replaced isn't on backorder.

My dealer is surprised as well. Hope I get lucky and it comes in this week. I’m getting edgy about still being in RI this time of year. Should be at my Florida house by now. I thought since it was built on 20 July I would have it by October. Nothing I can do but wait. We did have a cold spell last week, but temps have been in the upper40’s/ low 50’s recently. Range will definitely take a hit while I have the car here in RI but as soon as I am comfortable with the car and get the kinks out, it’s going to Florida where the range should be much better.

IT'S HOME!

Picked up my 2023 EQS 580 sedan yesterday.

Wow, what a ridiculously nice car.

Only surprises were the Pirelli all-season tires (I live in the valley of the sun and spec'd summer tires), and it has the energizing fragrance thing (not complaining). Oh, and the foot wave under the bumper works!
