Absolute no surprise here.
When S, E, C, B and A-Class cars are fully electrified, the EQ line is really a duplicate.
But, while the name EQ will be gone, I bet some models might possibly survive for a few more years with a name change. Say, the EQS will be positioned as a S-Class hatchback?

Battery technology advances so quickly that today's EV's batteries will become 'obsolete' soon in a few years time.
Unless that EV is some kind of special limited signature edition, then its attraction to a collector is not that big.

EVs will be harder to become a collector's item (when compared to ICE cars). There is a significant drawback when an battery array is compared to an engine block.

PFL205.064 with M276.823 (Oil pump solenoid defeated)
I think only new vehicles introduced after 2024 (which is when MB is unveiling the production MMA EV platform) will not use the EQ branding. They are not going to drop the EQ name on all vehicles at once, but most likely phase it out throughout vehicles product cycle. After the MMA platform is unveiled for compact EV's, MB will also likely unveil the new MB.EA platform after that will underpin larger cars (E and S-Class). Cars like the EQS will likely continue to have the EQ badge until their product cycle is over, especially considering MB has already confirmed the next S-Class will be an EV, likely riding on the MB.EA platform.

Yes it is.
Too bad will not buy an EV. Wife and kids on deck for all future Hybrid/EV purchases. Yesterday built a 2023 Camaro 2SS 1LE manual at local dealership. They don't want any money down and just expect $53K MSRP. Rolling up in freshly detailed AMG Wagon helped plus they don't want me to order out of town like I did for 2017 SS Sedan automatic from Grapevine, Texas and 2021 Wagon from Duluth, Georgia. Too bad lost my Legacy GMS Employee Discount exactly 4-years ago after 30-years on the program.
Instead of an EV automobile, might get Pilots License in retirement for real thrills...got my CDL at 51! Have a friend in Athens, Georgia area with a King Air and might consider a future VISION behind the controls of a non Autonomous EV Aircraft?
