Updates in Mercedes me app

Does anyone know how to get updated info using the connect app. In particular I am shipping my car to Florida for the winter and it was picked up by a carrier today at 3 pm. The app shows it in the same position as it got on the truck, which took off from that location 8 hours ago. The app says last updated 3 hours ago, and in same position. I can’t find any refresh to get up to the minute info in the app. Any suggestions?

Unlock and lock from the app. The app should try to communicate with the car and then give an update.

From the looks of it I’m guessing the vehicle location of the car doesn’t update unless you turn the car on. My car has been on a car carrier for 2 days and still shows the location as the one where it was loaded onto the truck (last time car was turned on). That is not too helpful as the carrier can be driving my car all the way cross country (yes I understand it’s very unlikely) and I wouldn’t know it till it was moved off the truck.

Yes, the car only updates its position while driving or when being parked. Not while it's off. It's not meant to track the car on a carrier. There is a stolen vehicle tracker feature, but that is only available to law enforcement. If you feel your car has been stolen, you can call law enforcement and Mercedes me and they will be able to track the car.

Thx for info. Not really concerned about having my car stolen on truck but I thought I was going to be able to track its movement. I thought about putting in an apple air tag but thought I would be able to track it with the app. Oh well, it’s scheduled for delivery tomorrow. If I don’t get a call then I’ll start to worry. Lol.

Thought I’d pass on to the forum my experience as my car was transported to Florida from RI on an enclosed car carrier. As was suggested I remotely locked and unlocked the car using the app hoping to update the location of my car. No dice. I can confirm the car has to be started for its location to be updated. However what I really wanted to pass along was immediately after I locked and unlocked the car it reported that the car was in an accident. Slight damage to the rear. Car alarm also went off. I called the truck driver who stated he was driving without incident. He even stopped the truck and inspected my car. Said everything was fine. Car was delivered to me yesterday in perfect condition. It took 4 pictures after the “accident”, one from each angle of the car (front back and both sides). They were not helpful as it was dark inside the enclosed truck. Not sure why locking car triggered that event but thankfully it was false alarm.

The collision alert is based on sensors in the car measuring forces that the car experiences while parked. Being on a carrier there will inevitable be forces acting on the car as it bounces around in the carrier that can be misinterpreted as a collision. Pretty much have to disregard any of that if the car is being moved and not sitting still.

That’s what I figured but didn’t realize by locking car it activated the sensors and thus the “slight” collision notice I got. After surveying the car in transit, the truck driver said everything is fine with the car, please don’t do anything else. I didn’t try to do anything else via the app and did not get any further warnings.

I had a flat tire in my garage last month. When I used a jack under the right rear of the 580 SUV the alarm went off and I received the collision alert also. Yes, the doors were locked when this happened.
