Mercedes 580 vs Lucid
#26
I’m not really complaining. I’ll get used to it, eventually. Doesn’t make it any less ridiculous though. There was no need for a start button and the car should auto lock when the key is out of proximity, period. The latter could easily be fixed.

The one thing that irritates me about my 580 SUV that appears to not bother anyone else is the recirculation button on the AC/ Heating system. Every time one starts the SUV the system lets in outside air and I have to change it on the screen. The system cools in Summer and heats much better in Winter by recirculating inside air. Why do I want to mix 105F outside air into the AC system? The vast majority of car owners do not smoke cigarettes any more in a vehicle. I wish the natural position was in recirculate all the time.

I’ve noticed hundreds of vehicles pulled over on the side of the road from drivers passing out from oxygen depletion….😇

What makes sense is behaving like a real button. If I flip a mechanical switch to another position it stays there until I flip it back. I shouldn't feel like there's a ghost in the machine that's pushing buttons when I'm not looking.

So....You expect this car to act like no other car ever acted? The recirculate button reverts in every car that I have owned. The reason is, recirculated air gets very stale over time in a confined space like your car cabin. Come on man.....

I expect people to use their brains to think and not just imitate the other chimpanzees. The car shouldn't be mandating recirculation settings to me like it's the authority on recirculation. The outside air could be radioactive or have some kind of biohazardous Corona super virus that turn people into zombies floating around in it.

On all the Ford Pickups I have owned/driven, 6 since 1972, and my wife’s last two XT5’s all the AC/Heat settings stay just like you left them when the trucks/cars were turned off. It’s pure BS that the air gets stale in the cars. The doors and trunk hatches get opened on every trip whether during grocery shopping or elsewhere. I assume some think Central AC units in houses are supposed to pull in outside air also. Yes, vehicles are a bit more sealed but have you ever driven through smoke from a fire. You can smell it in a car even with the AC off.

I totally get the desire to recirc the air in hot, cold or bad outside air, however with the recent bad air here where I wanted to recirc all the time I paid more attention to the recirculation function and I did conclude that it is for safety reasons to have it default to the outside air setting. I think maybe my E Class times the recirc out after a period of time for this reason. I kind of thought the recirc was for a temporary situation like following a vehicle with bad emissions or going through a tunnel. Now maybe they could design it to have a minimum outside air mix to maintain a healthy interior air quality

It doesn’t matter much the car will switch back to fresh air before your journey is over not just on restart.
I don’t know how long “After a while” is but MB apparently dont want their drivers sitting with recirculation mode on in their cars.
This has been a weird departure from the thread topic lol

I really wanted to like the Lucid, but the car I checked out was really buggy as the touchscreen interface didn't work reliably. In addition, it just didn't feel as luxurious as the EQS. It felt underwhelming while the AMG EQS just blew me away. I was looking for the most luxurious EV out there, and the AMG EQS checked the most boxes.
