Happy Independence Day to all! The 128GB USB C drive worked fine on the E250.X software but now the same drive is not recognized. Software upgrade is the only thing that changed. I have the recording set to Loop and tried both the USB C's in the center armrest area and cupholder area. Tried reformatting as exFAT & NTFS. Any insight or a new usb c recommendation would be appreciated as the dealer has no clue.

To further eliminate the USB stick as the problem try:
- a different USB stick
- connecting you phone with a cable

I have no clue what you guys are talking about with this exFAT or exSKINNY. 😀 That must mean I’m old.

@AppleFan1 Apple fans tend not to know or worry about these things until they have to interface with non Apply technology

@Crito The Owners Manual states "Only use FAT32 or exFAT formatted USB storage devices." So NTFS is out as is APFS (Apple standard). Theoretically exFAT should work.

I have a USB thumb drive for my main library and a USB-C to SD card adapter to put selected songs on it like an easy way to make a playlist from my computer. After the software my thumb drive continued to work, but not the SD card adapter.

Looks like the update removed some drivers? Anyway I can live with it as long as my main library plays.

I previously posted above, but have more info.
I just brought my '22 EQS450+ plus in for 2 recall software updates. They gave me a 2023 EQS450+ loaner today. I pulled my thumb drive out of my car to listen to in the loaner. On my car (and 2 previous '21 and '22 Mercedes) you go to the multimedia screen and the choices (sources) are on top of the screen. You press USB and were good to go.

In this '23 EQS the USB didn't show up as expected. The multimedia screen is available as an small icon, a medium banner over the map screen, or full screen (same as on the '22). On the medium banner screen I seen a "source" button. That showed my USB drive and then worked as expected.

Just saying the 2023 loaner acted different for USB, but it did work. I don't know if it is the same for you, but I thought I'd mention the different behavior.

E450 infotainment update stopped USB device from working. Dealer tried fix 4 times - no luck and silly 48v battery has to be disconnected each time and then spend hours re-charging. And they want people to buy their electric cars when they can’t even get their current systems working? Too much technological changes and no one can make them work.

After a software upgrade about a years ago most of my USB sticks, cards, and drives stopped working too (2022 EQS450). One drive continued to work, but if I choose an album to play, after about 3 or 4 times of driving the car it disconnects. When I unplug and re plug it in, it starts playing random songs. Most of my trips are short distance so half the time I have to get the music (drive) restarted and then wait for it to re index before I can choose what I want to listen to and my drive is over.

Mercedes is supposed to be cutting edge, but I never had a USB audio problem with my 2006 Lexus or 2016 Jaguar.
