Hello, all

I am looking to purchase a used 2022 EQS 580 with 35,000KM (22,000 miles) and would like some feedback from the community on what to check before agreeing to the transaction.

Here is my list so far; does anyone have anything else to add to this?

1. Warranty
It has the original warranty until Aug 31, 2026. I have the CPO warranty for 2-years/120,000KM that will start once the original warranty is up, but I am considering upgrading to the Extended Warranty for $6500 CAD to cover items like the Hyper Screen that the basic CPO doesn't. Any suggestions here?

2. Ownership
This has had 1 owner, the director of the Mercedes-Benz dealership.

3. Service Records
All services has been completed so far. The front multi-purpose camera, Telecommunications module, and Drivers Assistance Sensor/Radar Control Unit have been replaced.

4. Xentry Report
I am requesting for this to get the battery health information; what else should I be looking at in the report?

5. Corrosion
I live in a province that gets salt on the roads when it snows. I will be checking the entire undercarriage, plus under the hood.

Is there anything else I should be looking for that is specific to the 2022 EQS Sedan?

Thanks all, I appreciate any assistance with this.

The one thing that I have seen is the electric windshield heater causing cracking of the windshield.

Thanks for this. I was reading today how a crack or rock chip cannot be repaired and will need a new windshield installed for the heating to work.

I will call the dealer tomorrow and get their pricing on replacing a heated windshield or the hyper screen for reference.

I recently had my non heated windshield replaced at the dealer for a little over $4000. My insurance company covered the entire cost.

Cracked windshield here too, at the base well below the hood. Dealer said it was a rock, even though there's no way it could be. Had the front camera replaced also. Otherwise, these cars are seemingly holding up well with many of us here at 50,000 miles with no major problems. You aren't going to find any corrosion problems on such a new car, likely often washed by the owner. There are several threads on extended warranties, which I would suggest buying for peace of mind. Batteries seem to be holding up as well--MB was at or near the top of Recurrent's recent battery longevity study. Even if it were terrible, it would be MB's problem to give you a new one, which I'd see as a positive.

Thanks all,

I have the battery report, 280.67/282.00Ah and SOC is at 100. The dealer has also provided pictures of nearly everything, no rust or corrosion to be seen.

Almost all the paperwork is complete, I made sure to be clear that I wanted glass coverage with my insurance company. My trip is booked and it looks like I'll be signing for this by the end of the month with an arrival for mid-December.

If anyone has anything to add, please do. Its always good to hear people's grievances with the products I'm interested in or own.

If this is from a dealer, ask them to ensure the car is up to MBUX 2.6.1 for the system software and all the recent updates installed. You should see a software version number in the 500 range in the system information panel.

Thank you for this. Yes, it is a CPO from a Mercedes dealer. I have requested that any, and all, software/navigation updates are completed this week.

Believe it or not, one question that slipped my mind was to ask if both keys came with the vehicle. I just assumed a vehicle from the Director of the dealership would have both, but it is always best to check. Adding this for others who may forget an easy question to ask.

I am flying out to see it this Friday and sign the papers, I haven't been this excited for a vehicle since purchasing a Nissan 350z Roadster 20 years ago.

Also, for the ELW offered by Mercedes, I've found 3rd party warranties that are cheaper ($6500), have better coverage (5-Year+Unlimited KM+adds 1-Year/20,000KM to battery for a total of 11-Years/270,000KM battery coverage), and have good reviews.

See the company below for details, this is what I will be purchasing:

It comes with both keys.
All software updates will be completed this week, along with a paint correction and ceramic coating.

I have my electrician coming to install a new camera for the garage, the wall charger, and sorting out some wiring for the main panel.

The only thing left is to decide on a license plate; either a custom plate or a Calgary Flames plate. I think the red Flames would look great with the Obsidian Black.

Congratulations on your new ride. I've bought cars from other cities and States, and I just signed the papers via FedEx document delivery. The car gets delivered.

From personal experience, I have never had a dealer actually do the updates I requested. Once it is sold, they are done with it. This is a sedan, right? If you are shipping this make sure they put it in transport mode--make the request in writing, so when they don't do it and your car comes damaged you have a leg to stand on. The salesman probably won't know transport mode exists for a sedan, but it does, and the super long wheel base car needs to raise a couple inches or is likely to bottom out getting on/off the truck.

Regarding the electrical work. Please make sure that the electrician properly torques the connections - he will need to use a special screwdriver to do so. Just as important, if you are installing a plug for the charger, it must be a heavy duty plug for car charging. The normal plugs for things like dryers or ovens cannot take the load of charging a car.

At this point, I still need to sign the papers, so the dealership is still working with me (I hope that doesn't change once I'm out the door).

Correct, a Sedan. Appreciate the advice on transport mode, I will make sure to have it in paper that it will be set before transportation.

Definitely. This guy has been an electrician for his entire career and extremely safety-oriented. This will be done by the books.

Thanks for the guidance, this is something everyone should be aware of.
