Allocations

Has anyone managed to reserve a production slot yet for the 2027 EQS? I'm getting no answers from the local dealerships. I have a mesage into MB USA in Atlanta but no response yet.

Thx

AFAIK the dealers don’t know until they know. We’d had our order in for an SL55 for a couple months when I stopped by to see my sales person. When asked about he looked into Netstar(?) and saw a 24 June allocation available. Don’t know how long it had been open.

For what’s worth, the system also doesn’t tell in advance when the configuration freezes.

Sheesh. What a way to run a business. Even so, its not as bad as Ferrari.

Yes, it is a pain. The dealerships don't seem to get notifications and the sales have to be poked to look up the status of orders. My EQE was ordered in March with a three month delivery that stretched to nine months and resulted in my receiving a later model year than I ordered. In the end that model year transition got me several very beneficial base model upgrades and the economy turned so I got a much better deal, so I am glad it happened, but it is a terrible experience.

First dealer arrival is expected late summer, so U.S. sales may not begin until the second half of the year…. May is probably still too early.

Good luck with the order.

I ordered mine. Originally had a July slot but pushed it back to August to get steer by wire.

I have never ordered a car from the factory before. How did this work? Did you need to place a deposit? How did you handle the fact that no pricing has been released? Anything else I should know before I jump?

Thanks

When I bought my new 2023 EQS SUV (in late 2022), I ordered it through a local Mercedes-Benz dealer; they did the configuration/ordering online. The car got shipped (from the factory in Tuscaloosa, Alabama) to the dealer. I then paid for it and picked it up there.

I’ve owned multiple Mercedes over the years and have ordered every one from the factory. I figure if I’m going to own an expensive car, I want it to be exactly the way I want it. A lot of the dealer ordered cars come with packages I do not want. I’ve worked with the same dealer over 15 years so I know them pretty well and they know me. I usually put down a small deposit ($500-1000). If the price has not been released I negotiate a % off MSRP. This has worked well for me over the years. Unfortunately the salesman I have worked with the last 10 years just retired and I don’t know any of the current salesmen well. I’m not in the market any time soon for a new car but unless I see something I like with a good price, I will probably order the next one as well.

I'm the same. I've factory ordered MB cars since the 1960's from the same dealer though I'm on my third salesman. I generally give them a credit card deposit, but they never process it.

You basically sit down with a salesman and have him place the order for the car you want. However, you definitely should look at and test drive the cars so you can be sure this really is what you want. I recommend you get a full list of all the packages and options and go through them to determine what you want as that will shorten the time to place the order. Look at cars with the same package and options if possible. My wife and I spent a couple of weeks looking at various cars before we decided on what we wanted - this included looking at other cars with different exterior colors and interior, packages, and options. We also went through the options list in detail to be sure we had everything we could want. (Do not underestimate the time for your wife to decide on the color and interior - my wife spent several days looking at possibilities, and came up with a fantastic combination - when the car arrived at the dealership several people tried to buy it at first sight!) As a courtesy to the salesman, stick with one salesman as you look at all the different cars, place the order, and finalize the sale.

The dealership will usually not accept a deposit unless the combination your order is so different from what sells in the area they would be concerned about selling it if you refuse it when it arrives. If this is the case, they will have you sign a contract to buy it when it arrives. I offered to sign the paperwork when we ordered, but they refused. (As a practical matter, they may not be able to do much without the VIN of the car which they won't know until it is built.) In my case that worked out well as the economy changed during the period between ordering and arrival so I saved about $15,000 on the purchase in the end.

Mercedes does not have a good system to notify the dealerships about changes in status on orders, so a week or two before it should arrive you need to call the dealer and find out if there have been any changes to the delivery date. Once it arrives, try to go in as quick as you can; in my case the dealership held the car for me even though several people made offers on it between finishing prep in the early afternoon and my getting to the dealership that evening. (My wife's choices were outstanding!)

Thanks for this. I owned a 2023 EQS 580 that I bought off the lot so I have a good idea of what I do and don't want. I took the 2027 ordering guide and have a build sheet ready to go when someone at the dealership gives me the call that they have been given an allocation.
Regards
Eric

The dealer cannot order without an allocation? I would just order it now if the dealer can place the order. The sooner you order the sooner the car will be built and shipped.

This dealer is telling me he can't. I am going to call another for confirmation based on the latest posts in this thread.

I casually mentioned to my favorite dealer in a text yesterday that forum members have been placing orders for '27 EQS's and said I would call other dealerships to verify. Thirty minutes later I got a text from them that they were accepting orders and I can come in today to do the same. Coincidence?

I worked through my options for the EQS with the dealer this morning. I just love the build. It is going to be an amazing car. The only issue is that there was not a way to specify the Steer by Wire option I want yet. I had them write that into the purchase agreement so it is clear that option is required. No price data so we didn't talk leases or incentives.

That color will look very nice! Other than the drive by wire and bigger battery and heat pump, are there more updates from the 23' vs 27"?

Two speed transmission on the rear axel which is going to help with range.

That is my only wish for my '22 EQS580 is that it had a dark brown interior. I don't mind the all black, but that chocolate brown would be perfection. If you can post all the options you ticked, I'd love to see it.

Sure. The complete build sheet is attached. No pricing is available yet. The Steer by Wire option couldn't be selected yet.

That is going to be an awesome car! Does anyone know if the 4D Burmester is available on any EQS in the US?

From what I read, the ‘27 will have more autonomous driving.

The steer by wire makes this more appealing. Of course it’s going to take some getting used to for my wife. I have 6 months left in my current lease wonder if I should order soon.
