Mileage when picking up car?
Hi, just got back from a great EDP trip, and am now awaiting the car's delivery to the US. More on the trip after I recover from jet lag...
When I picked up the car (SL450), the odometer had 75 km or 47 miles on it. (I drove it another 1300 km / 800+ miles.) The car was built in late April, and I picked it up in late June, but the mileage seems high to me. Other new (non-EDP) cars I've ordered had about 10 miles.
I was wondering how many miles were on your car when you picked it up? And how many extra miles were put on it after you dropped it off and picked it up again in the States?

That does seem like a lot of kilometers.
I forgot to check the kilometers when I picked up the car in Sindelfingen, but the difference between the kilometers since reset and total kilometers was 6 when I checked later that day. So I am assuming there was 6 kilometers on the car when I picked it up. This is in line with the 3 miles that was on a BMW I picked up in Munich a few years ago.
My car doesn't arrive in Long Beach until 7/19, so I don't know how many additional miles will be added before redelivery.

I've just picked up a vehicle in Sindelfingen with 11 km on the odometer when I picked it up. My car, an E class, was built at the factory in Sindelfingen, however. Some other models are built elsewhere. Although I think they are usually shipped to the delivery centers in Sindelfingen and elsewhere on car carriers, perhaps there are unavoidably more miles on them when they are built at other factories and have to be transported to the customer.

I believe my Euro Delivery 2014 S550 4matic had 11km or about 7 miles on it at delivery in Sindelfingen and only a couple of miles were put on the car during transport to the US.

Thanks for the responses. I thought 47 miles was high, so I just checked with the person who delivered the car to us. Apparently, the car was made in Bremen, so it had a few additional miles getting to the train / truck to deliver it to Sindelfingen, and for quality reasons they pick out several cars to do some extra rounds at the test track to check if everything is o.k.
So, I guess the test driver had as much fun as I did!
