Hey everyone! I have no probs getting food and stuff for the bbq...if people want to help out and bring some drinks, ice, etc, that would be great. Last time we had a meet i bought a little too much stuff from Costco (hey, i've never bought that much food before)...

Champps is a sports bar in Menlo Mall..not sure if people would be interested in going there instead (they have lots of tv's there...any good games going on at that time?). Otherwise we can just have the bbq and chill in the park. There's a lake there, as well as some tennis courts.

Please remember that not everyone will need 15 hotdogs and 10 hamburgers this time either!

I'd much prefer a bbq; logistics would be much easier, and it'd be easier to check out the other cars (or drool over my bodacious leather for those of you who have not seen it yet - yes, I mean you, S_L!) at a park than the mall.

Those are my two cents, and I'm sticking to them.

i will be happy to bring some h2o and soda. i'll hit a convenience store or supermarket near the park (there's got to be one, right?) and show up a little early.

anyone want to volunteer for the ice (i would but i don't have a cooler), cups/plates/utensils/condiments?

Geez - at least change the post a little from Benzsport to here. You might get accused of pulling an Accord over there.

Chris, are you going to be able to make that? I'm really interested in seeing your setup. How'd the suspension install go?

Saturday - September 21 - 11am - BBQ (if it rains, it's off to CHAMPS)

here's a map of the location (see red dot near the top of the park). that red dot is the parking lot.

exit 10 off of the NJ turnpike. 287 West, exit 1A, then up rt 1 for a short while. looks like a jughandle (make a right to loop left) to menlo park drive. and then wiggle around to get to the lot. columbus, that's 40.55°N, 74.34°W

All of them, as much as I can...
Sorry but I gotta bow out this time...

Bummed to miss it but our family's matriarch has slipped into stage 2 Alzheimer's and the big family meeting is at MY house to make some serious decisions and it's on the 21st. It's been rough emotionally but the CLK55's been keeping me distracted when I need it. I'll catch y'all next time.

Ray, sorry to hear about that. We'll get ya next time.

I do have a thought, though. I'm dropping my sis & brother-in-law off at JFK that morning. Think I could swing by and take your CLK to the meet? You did promise that it would be there at this meeting! Just a thought... :p

Ray, also sorry to hear it...

But I was hoping to check out your Upsolute chip.

Is there something I can bring to this?

If you check Jimmy's post over at benzsport, he's doing the meats for the event; we'll need other stuff, like:

napkins, plastic silverware
condiments (I'd like to put in a request for Miracle Whip!)
chips, snacks, etc.
soda

I'd just go back and forth between the two forums; some people are exclusive on one, so communication isn't ideal.

I'm tenatively in! If you see a silver CLK430 pull up, you'll know I made it.

Being that I'm tenative for right now, if I show up I'll bring some extra chips/beer/soda, you know, the good stuff.

Hey, are we in rain or shine? I'm fine either way.

I'll probably be in my beater truck, since I have an off-roading event later in the day and since my Benzy is chilling in my driveway until she goes up to Morristown next week for brakes (rotors & pads), B-service, and a new VDO instrument cluster.

Stopping at all of those lights on rte. 22 as I make my way over to 287 won't be pretty with the brakes the way they are...

So, will I still be welcome if I show up in my 1995 Land Rover Discovery? If not, I'll fire up the black car and just hope no one stops short in front of me...

Then again, if I can get her to run, I might even show up in the 1979 450SEL 6.9...

Hey, this isn't a gathering of Rover owners lady! Get that black clunker moving!
Unless you have a Hummer H2, in which case I'd rather gawk at that (the truck, that is).

Such abuse! I can't tell if he's kidding or not.

****, I'll get the 6.9 started and be the biggest Benz engine there.

Remind me, again (56k modem, reading long thread is too taxing here), are we meeting at a park or in a mall parking lot? I can't tell from the map...

I was kidding, of course.

I believe the directions earlier in the thread told us to meet inside the park. I still don't know exactly where, though.

If I see a gang of Land Rovers, I'll probably get confused.
