I spoke with the Dan of the LI Porsche club at their event today at the Nassau Coliseum Autocross meet.
Dan has extended an open invitation to MBworld members who wish to really learn how to rally their cars.
Tomorrow 6-8-08 show up, pass a safety inspection, bring a helmet, $40, that's it.
Dan has expressed an interest in some joint meetings with MBworld members. He also noted that next year they will move from the coliseum due to construction to somewhere else. (Republic ?)
Interestingly he explained they get insurance from National PCA group which was the reason LIEuro could not rent a local lot for racing this summer at Republic/Coliseum.
I think a letter to AMG is in order, but it must be very convincing. One of us (JO) should follow up on this and turn over a few stones and do a little discovery.

If you are interested in learning to Autocross or just want to polish up your skills this is a great event to attend.
If you are new to the sport, you can come down and enjoy a competition and pressure free environment where you will be instructed by many of the club's talented drivers through a variety of Autocross exercises designed to give you the basic skills necessary for Autocross.
If you have Autocrossed before and want to improve your existing skills, instructors will work with you to get that competitive edge you've been looking for.
SEAT TIME - SEAT TIME - SEAT TIME
You have heard everyone say it. The key to success is seat time.
There is no better place then the Autocross School. You will be able to drive the exercises all morning and a real Autocross course in the afternoon. YES...you heard it here...A real Autocross Course! (no points will be awarded for this event)
If you are interested please e-mail Dan at autocross@metronypca.org or call him at 631-748-2727.

Thanks for the always-ever-so-informative post Tom! I couldn't go. Did you?
Also, E-Town has finally opened their road course track which I hope to attend some time this summer.

I went but do not own a helmet and could not get one Saturday night in our small rural town.
I did find out Republic wants $3000/day to close a runway down and rent it to PCA.
Would be cool if 10 MB, 10 BMW and 10 Porsche members kicked in $100 each and had our own 1/4 track for the day.
Could we get in 20-30 races per hour ?

Tom - count me in on this! $100? That's an awesome deal... and by "for the day" what do they mean by that and what about airport traffic on the other runway that crosses the one we rent? Originally Posted by turbotom1

Sorry the track is only 1,400 feet long which is very suitable for our cars but not freight vehicles. Not all is lost Ren, they have new crash barriers at both ends, lolOriginally Posted by RENNSTAGE

my example was just to make it afordable. 10 guys could kick in $300 or 30 guys $100. We only need 1/4 mile (1400 feet) so would not cross the other runway.
