10/8-10/9 Bear Mountain Run
hey all trying to get a little impromptu get together and caravan from queens up to the pallasades and ending at Bear Mountain state park for a nice little cookout and farewell to the summer thing. weather for the weekend as it is now is sunny both days with highs in the 70's so perfect for crusing. im looking at starting this either saturday or sunday morning and making a nice afternoon out of it. the leaves by me are starting to turn so i can imagine along the pallisades a week from now it should be a nice sight. this is kinda spur of the moment but i think you tristate guys can come together and make it a fun time. me and adam discussed it and hes gonna be sending a big email out to everyone on his list, but any comments concerns day changes would be appreciated. i would love to have a nice turnout and really end 2011's driving season with some style. once we get a warm and fuzzy on who is intrested we can cement days times driving routes etc etc etc...... hope to see alot of you guys.

well the route i was thinking of was leaving from adams place in freshmeadows and then taking the grand central parkway to 87 and then taking the GW to the base of the pallisades should be like the first or second exit after we hit NJ then just cruise all the way up to the park. i mean if you guys dont wanna meet in queens the L.I guys can meet off of 495 and then we can all rally at the pallisades look out point off the highway.. just as long as we all drive the pallisades together i think well have fun.

If I may recommend route 9W. Couple of weeks ago I went for a drive to check it out and it was a blast. Smooth pavement, twisty, lot's of elevation change, and no traffic!

that sounds great man im game for that, we can take the GW into jersey then hop on 9w and take her all the way due north nice pick man. ive got some feedback from a few individuals outside the forums that say sunday is the preferred day so im gonna go ahead and make it this sunday. once i get more people that are confirmed well cement times and what not. hope everyone can attend this

well looks like you,me adam, one member through the email list said he was in for sunday. so im hoping for more members. if you guys know other people that are car nuts that wanna tag along i dont see why not. just as long as they dont drive like idiots and all that jazz.

this is looking to be very promising! I think the best day/time for this to start is Sunday at 1PM. Mainly because later driving always feels nicer and depending on how long the drive is we could do a late lunch early dinner cookout at the park. So how things are looking is that we will leave Fresh Meadows, NY (queens) at 1PM, cross the GW, have a meeting point in north NJ for NJ/PA members, the head up to 9W to bear mountain.
How does this sound for everyone?

ok guys so this is pretty much the rough draft but should be a workable plan so far. it looks like were gonna have 2 meeting locations for this ride, in queens at fresh meadows near adams place and in fort lee right off the fort lee/9W exit for the second location. you fellas choose whatever works better for ya. i imagine most of you will probably choose the Jersey one since there is 1 less crossing and toll fare. but were gonna leave around 1PM from queens and make our way to fort lee, so it being a sunday and traffic should be less i imagine 20-30 minutes for that. we pickup whoever else in fort lee wait for any stragglers and then head to bear mountain via 9W. now since were trying to do a cookout as well i imagine the best location to pick up food at the local grocery stores near by in the Fort Lee area hopefully the locals that attend will know the best spot. from there we enjoy our ride up to bear mountain eat drink and be merry and then all go about our ways when the party dies down. i myself have invited a couple friends that are VW guys and may bring their cars or ride with, and a friend of mine with an STI im still waiting on a response. i encourage everyone to invite any other car enthusiats. now for those of you meeting us at the NJ location here is the address of the wallgreens we will all rally at and then continue our journey.

hey guys i've discussed with adam and ric here is are some photos with directions on how to get to the stop in my town...
when you approach the end of the bridge hold the 3rd lane (where i shot the photo above from) and take fort lee's exit (shown below)
this will bring you here... hold left and take center av.
up this ramp here
following up to this stop sign...
make the right, and the right at the light in front of you here... notice the palisades park sign is here as well, i told ric that the exit in my town is a few blocks from where the Walgreens we will meet in is...
where the white suv is making the left into that driveway below the washington bridge plaza sign is where the lot is with the Walgreens
the full address for this lot is 2151 Lemoine Ave. Fort Lee, NJ 07024

the fresh meadows mall parking lot, i think its right next to a kohls. adam knows better than i do. its exit 25 off the LIE(495). adam could give you more precise directions if u look up kohls in freshmeadows queens im sure u can see it on google earth.
