I am far from an expert on cars and the providers of warranties. What I am an expert on is "insurance" and "warranties" and "contracts" and the like. Yes, price is an issue. I am not saying it isn't. However, the big issue here is simple -- either it's a warranty provided by MB or it's a warranty provided by someone else. Whoever "backs" the warranty, their full faith and credit, and the contract language, will all dictate. But, it's either MB or it's not. Period.

I had a warranty company tell me I can go to any MB dealer I want, and my cost would only be my so called deductible. I read the contract. That wasn't true. I asked three MB dealers. They said it wasn't true. Each said they had numerous problems with people coming in -- with certain expectations -- and each and every time it ended up with the people being disappointed. I am sure there are good warranties and warranty companies out there. But I don't think there are any that are going to be "better" and "more accepted" and "honored" than a legitimate MB warranty. Not that a MB warranty is the end all cure all -- but for me, I'd rather have that than anything else. When I have that, I am dealing with a principal, the provider of both the warranty and the service, and the party that is charging and being paid...by me. All the best!

Seems he is the person who took over from Casandra Castro who sold me mine for my 2020 E450 wagon and I'd heard she left.

Thumbs up Recommend Rafael Dianov

I also purchased a 2 year ELW for my CPO which was about to end. Rafael Dianov from mbofelmbrook was great. He quoted the lowest price for my 2017 SL63 which I bought almost a year ago from Silver Star MB in Thousand Oaks CA. He emailed me the receipt and contract and the price was unchanged from the quote he gave me 2 months ago. He called on the phone to confirm everything and no problems at all. Highly recommend. rdianov@mbofelmbrook.com. 262-821-5000

GLC300
Hi everyone,

I have a GLC300 2020 and the manufacturer warranty will expire next year (44k mileage currently). I'm new to extended warranty so have a few questions.
1. Can I buy MB extended warranty from any official dealership, even those out of state? If yes, does it mean it will be accepted by the MB dealers in my city?
2. For MB extended warranty, must I purchase them before the 4yr/50k expire? If no, is there any advantage to buying them early?
3. Will third-party extended warranty be honored at any shop? (For example, if I buy a thirdparty warranty and get my car fixed at official MB dealer, will they be able to claim directly from the company or its a pay first, ask for reimbursement later?)

You can buy from any MB dealer in the US. If you buy from out of state you typically won't have to pay your own state's sales tax.
You can wait until you're a few miles or a few weeks before your current warranty expires, but DON'T WAIT until it has expired. If you do, an extended warranty from MB will not be available. There is no advantage to buying early unless there is an upcoming general price increase.
Someone else will have to answer on point #3, I've only owned MB extended warranties.
Hope this helps.
Bill

No one can really answer #3 without reading the details of the 3rd party warranty. They are typically not as good as MB warranties for the basic reason that MB can lose money on the warranties because they're mainly in the business of selling cars and selling warranties help sell cars. Other 3rd party warranty companies would go out of business if they lost money selling warranties so the profit margin to the dealers are higher and they typically have deductibles and cost more than MB warranties in general. A third party warranty like a Carmax one might be good but in general the best warranty you can buy is an MB one in terms of bang for the buck. Basically 3rd party warranties aren't as good because they go out of business frequently, don't provide as much coverage, deny certain claims, have deductibles, may require authorization, have a total out of pocket maximum for repairs, have lots more exclusions of what is covered and not, may have a maximum hourly rate they pay for repairs, etc. Basically 3rd party warranties are insurance products, you can't stay in business as an insurance company if you pay out more in claims than you take in.

@cetialpha5 not all 3rd party warranty companies are the same.... You wouldn't say Mercedes makes bad cars because Maserati's are unreliable? Just one example is Fidelity, a very well known and trusted company with MB World members, has been in business for over 47 years, top tier coverage "bumper to bumper" the dealer will tell you, it is cheaper for them to accept claims to get in legal battles about wether or not they have to pay, many deductible options, one being $0, no repair limit for policy payout, no hourly labor rate limit, and are often sold at Mercedes-Benz dealerships because they know they can ring the register when it is time to use the policy.

@ddhung Both Fidelity and Freedom Warranty are accepted at all dealerships and licensed independents in the country, and they pay the service center directly, no need to wait for reimbursement, reach out at tgibson@highline-autos.com or (855) 924-1333 for quotes, questions, example contracts from both of our 3rd party extended warranty providers.

I didn't say they were all bad or that even yours was bad. But as Lloyd Bentsen said to Dan Quale, you're no Jack Kennedy and you're not Fidelity. The basic facts that I laid out are that most warranties don't measure up to the Mercedes warranty which is why the Mercedes warranty is preferred. Fidelity tends to be a lot more expensive than Mercedes so why pay more even if you get the same thing? There are vendors in this forum who claim they only mark up their warranties a small amount, something like $50-$100. For that small of a margin, they're not spending all their time spamming all the threads trying to sell a warranty. What's the commission you make on Freedom or Fidelity? How much more is the Freedom or Fidelity warranty over a Mercedes one?

If we buy the warranty from Jeff and for some reason he no longer works there a few years from now, how do we cancel the warranty in such case? Do we have to go through the dealership he is currently working or can any dealership cancel the warranty if we would like to in the future?

The warranty is through MB, which includes cancellation information in the contract so unless MB goes under you will be fine!

Does anyone know a dealer selling Assurant Extended Warranty contracts? I've been very happy with my coverage, but my local dealer stopped selling their service and switched to a different provider. I've spent plenty of time looking on Google for someone who sells Assurant, but no luck so far. I'm looking to add a policy on a different car I own.

Can you not call Assurant and ask where you can purchase another warranty contract?

No, they are pretty useless. They say they are just the administrator, and don't have any information on where to buy it. I know--surprising.

Any setbacks with using the MB policy purchased from Jeff as far as dealers rejecting services since it’s an out of state purchase.

Nope, it is an MB policy so it has to be accepted at any MB dealer.
