Is 3rd party the only option under these circumstances?
Correct, you'd be able to extended CPO yourself since the the vehicle is still under factory warranty, but the max coverage length would be 2-3 years. You'd be better off punching the total length of desired extended warranty now, rather than waiting until the vehcile is older with more miles down the road when CPO is expiring. You can reach me at tgibson@highline-autos.com or (855) 924-133 to explore options from our providers Fidelity and Freedom Warranty, repairs accepted at all Mercedes-Benz dealerships in the country.

By purchasing a desired length of 5 years of extended warranty coverage from Fidelity or Freedom Warranty now, it would be much cheaper than purchasing CPO from Mercedes for 2-3 years, then purchasing another 2-3 years of warranty coverage from a 3rd party provider once CPO has expired.

Yes, I think you are restricted to third party. I considered this but decided to self insure. Another forum member bought from Endurance and had a positive experience with a hydraulic line replacement. I was royally screwed years ago when warranty Gold went belly up. I had 3 vehicles with them. Participated in a class action lawsuit and did recover most of my investment as I was making monthly installments.
Good luck with your decision. The R231s have been pretty reliable but electronics and other options like massage seats, air scarfs, etc can be problematic. Others can probably advise better as my SL is my first MB. I've been a BMW guy for 30 years.

R231 is one of my favorite cars, but I'm actually looking at an S560 cab this time around.

Don't really understand why they wouldn't let me buy the MB extended warranty just because I didn't buy from an MB dealer. From what I understand, if it was a private sale this would not be the case.

Same with the CPO - if it was a private sale I'd keep it, but since dealer is selling it to me, the CPO goes to waste.

Correct, just how the dealer games go.

FL is exempt from this. Their prices are set. I know this because I live in FL and buy my warranties from Jeff Jackson in Louisville, KY. Do note that Jeff doesn’t answer lists of questions. He gives you best and final price and keeps it moving. Met him once at his dealership because I bought a car for my wife there. He said making $30/online warranty is not worth answering a list of questions because he’s busy at his store. Just make sure you do your research.

apparently this happens a lot due to turn over in finance manager roles. The finance manager at the store dodged me for two weeks, so I stopped in the store I purchased my car from and had a discussion with the general manager. They made it right and refunded me, but I believe it’s only because I told them I’m an attorney. Not sure if they would have refunded me if I wasn’t. He gave me the run around and told me I was wrong. Don’t like to pull out the attorney card, but i didn’t know what else to do.

It's basically Florida state law. I think the residents get screwed by that as the price is fixed at MSRP so I guess it's good that you don't get charged more, but then you can't get a discount.

How do I contact Jeff Jackson, I don't see his information anywhere on this thread?

I hear you. This could not have been a typical, normal. MB warranty. I've never seen a MB warranty that you can ONLY use at ONE MB DEALERSHIP. Very strange.

Extended Warranty MBUSA

Called Shawn Teed (MB of Elmbrook) and Jeff Jackson (MB of Lville). Shawn offered $1200 off a 7 yr / 75k package and Jeff offered $1000 off. Shawn replaced Rafael who replaced Cassandra. All these folks have been mentioned previously on the 31 pages of info lol. Thanks for the leads!

Thanks for the info. Cassandra was awesome; I was disappointed when she left, as not only was her pricing very aggressive, but her warranties were the best. Eg, I had a Fidelity extended coverage (for wear & tear items) from her, and it actually covered brakes + rotors once a year. Paid for itself instantly the first year I used it.

When you say 7 yr / 75k package, I'm assuming you're talking about an additional 3 years/25K miles after the factory warranty expires? Cuz I don't think Mercedes offers anything beyond 3 years coverage, if I'm not mistaken. Or are they offering aftermarket coverage plans too?

As for Jeff Jackson, I get my PPM from him regularly. Best pricing I've found.

Why do you get PPM? I feel like Service A and B are just pricing scams.

yes 3 yrs beyond the MB factory warranty

The hourly rate at my MB dealer is $200+ (I think $235 IIRC). Some service/maintenance isn't that expensive, while others quickly approach $2k. In my experience, the PPM pays for itself in controlling the cost of the services. Is it a huge saving? No. But it def saves some $$ on the services, esp. when it's servicing AMG vehicles ($$$$).

Sure I can get service done for cheaper at an Indy shop, but the Indy shop I trust is about 35 min away, adjusts his pricing to be competitive yet comparable with MB dealer pricing, and doesn't have a loaner. My MB dealer is 15 min tops from my house, always provides me with a loaner, and I have an excellent relationship with them. You'd be surprised what tipping your service advisor does. Things like manager discounts regularly for out of pocket repairs, prioritizing your car, prioritizing a loaner, etc.

What does $1200 off mean unless one knows the MSRP for the coverage? When I bought a MB plan from Cassandra for my 2020 wagon I got a 7 yr/75K miles plan for $1800. No fees or taxes.

Has anyone bought a plan for the new 2024 MB E450 sedan or wagon? I'm sure like everything else, these have also gone up since I bought my last one in 2020.

There's no flat rate. It depends on the vehicle. My 2018 C63S had an MSRP of $7K+ for the additional 2 years of CPO coverage. Cassandra sold the same coverage to me for $3,850. This was back in 2020. Huge difference.

Yup, that was my point, $1200 off what means nothing. I've heard the AMG car's plans are significantly more than regular non AMG MB models which I guess makes sense.

Yes. Everything is more expensive with the AMGs. On a non-AMG, $1200 off may be a good deal. On an AMG, they're still robbing ya blind with only $1200 off.
