Extended Warranty non-CPO 2013 ML63?
We've got a 2013 ML63(25k miles) that is not eligible for Mercedes ELW (it was a CPO car that was sold to a 3rd party dealer where we purchased it). The original vehicle warranty lapses in April, and I'm having a hard time finding someone to quote me the cost on a 3rd party warranty. I've searched through the extended warranty threads and reached out to some of the contacts listed for a quote, but never received a response. Any suggestions or contacts would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I did, but the dealership didn't offer any aftermarket warranty options. I thought dealerships used to offer that option. I've had a Fidelity aftermarket warranty on a 911 in the past, and I was able to find Troy Dietrich referenced in different forums (Audi/BMW/Porsche). Fidelity covers AMG vehicles so I was able to get coverage with the Fidelity warranty. If anyone is in a similar situation (AMG vehicle purchased from a non-MB dealer), try giving Troy a call.

Thanks for the details on Troy. I'm a little surprised the MB dealer didn't want sell you a MB extension while you were still under warranty. Fidelity is probably less expensive anyway.

Yeah, I am about to buy an '09 ML63 next week. It has 42k miles and is being sold by the Mercedes Benz Dealer of South Orlando, but is out of any warranty and is sold 'as-is'. I've had it inspected by an independent mechanic who said it was very clean. They've heard of a few cars coming from this dealer with problems, so I was a bit worried. I plan on bringing it to another independent shop before finally paying for it though. It seems there is not a warranty out there available for me. Is this true?

Really? I don't feel that way. It's 2009 which is after the balance shaft issue was resolved, but before they began putting turbos in everything. It's about 3 years after the last revision. ML had the same body style from 2007-2011 with a minor facelift in 2009. It has extremely clean carfax, 3 owners, with the first and last owner being 3+ years each. It was never a leased vehicle and has no reported accidents. A well respected independent shop said it checked out clean. What would make you worried?

BTW - I called Carchex and got a cost for a 4 year warranty. They want 24 payments over 2 years. It comes to $7,477, or $311/month. After googling them and reading horror stories - do you really think this is worth it?? I mean, I expect up to $2000/year in repairs/maintenance. I just don;t want to be left holding the bag on a vehicle that needs a 10k job. Talking to my long time indy, there doesn't seem to be such a concern on this well maintained low-mileage vehicle.

I was last quoted a 3y/36K safe guard platinum/exclusionary (i believe underwritten by same co behind Carchex) at $6500, so another a year for $7500 -- assuming also exclusionary -- seems tolerable, especially because they're offering it at a 0% 24MO payment plan.
