2018 cost of 3 pak prepaid maintenance

My 2011 e350 is due for 60k mile service that includes spark plugs. i received a quote for $1318 total, i asked the SA to run the numbers on prepaid 3 pak and he came back with $1903 total for next 3 B-A-B services. is this a current price of the 3 pak? he told me the pricing comes from MB and its not negotiable. btw im in chicago everything is expensive over here. please i would appreaciate everyones thoughts on this!! thanks

I was in a Chicago dealership this past weekend and heard one of the reps quote someone $1,647 for three maintenance packages. I do not know the specifics though. I am on my first MB so I am listening to whatever I can when it comes to pricing options and repairs. Good luck in your search.

Pricing comes from MB not negotiable is a lie, Different dealers in the chicago area charge different prices. And beware different dealers may not include everything in a B package that another dealer has, ie brake flush, may or may not be included.

I got a quote from Fletcher Jones on North Ave. They have their own 3 service b.a.b. for $1,100. Everyone else I got quotes for were around $1900.

I was told the only thing they do not include is wiper blades.

Is the Prepaid Maintenance price car-specific? Cuz I shopped around and got higher prices for my AMG C63S.

Like it was said earlier, Mercedes does not make spark plugs and the manufacturer does not make it exactly to Mercedes Specs as dealers state. Mercedes puts out a bid for spark plugs, usually 3 manufacturers will enter the bidding, each produces a plug that meets the requirements. 99% of the time the company that sells them for the lowest price gets the bid or contract. One company will get the majority of the business while another or even 2 more get smaller parts of the contract, this is done to protect against one company going on strike and affecting supply. They always want multiple options to keep the production line running. Champion, NGK, maybe Denso but I think Denso sources plugs also. Champion and NGK build them, I would chose one of these two and use the Iridium plugs and know you put the best in your car. Iridium plugs are good for 200,000 miles plus so do it once and be done. Iridium plugs also offer the benefit that they will fire on less energy than platinum plugs so less stress on your coil paks. I understand Mercedes used a lot of Copper spark plugs in these cars. Copper is the cheapest plug you can use but it also lasts the shortest amount of time. Only copper plugs will fire on less energy than an Iridium plug. Double platinums take the most energy to make a spark. How often do you want to pull the intake manifold to change plugs? I vote for never if possible so install iridium plugs and be done for the life of your car. Champion was the number 1 supplier of private label spark plugs to the manufacturers but my information is now dated, over 10 years old and things do change so that might not be the case today. Private label could be Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford and a lot of European and Japanese cars. You would laugh if you were on the manufacturer floor and saw the production line boxing plugs for all the different companies. Since my data is now old who knows maybe China is making many of these today like they took over many products we buy.
