It may have already been said on another post but if you did NOT but your MB vehicle from a dealership you cannot purchase a MB ELWarranty!

Bought my 2015 S550 at auction and it was a lease return owned by MB Leasing. MB would not allow me to buy their EW and I’ve tried everything. Smart move when you’re a bottom line company.

I’m going with Continental Warranty Co. because their price is competitive but the dealership service people like them best overall. Afterall they’ll be dealing with them on my behalf anyway.

So what if you bought it from a non Mercedes dealership but the original warranty is still in effect?

theyll honor the OM Warranty of course but they will not sell you a MB EW.

You can still purchase MB ELW! I purchased my used 2016 S212 from an Audi dealership (out of state to me). It had been traded in by its original owner for an Audi SUV. After reading posts in the Extended Warranty Discussion forum I had no problem purchasing MB ELW from Jeff Jackson (also out of state for me) at a very deep discount to MB ELW retail price.

3rd Party Extended WarrantySince I did not buy my vehicle from MB (auction) I cannot purchase an MB ELW. Here is the deal I got:


Endurance EW coverage for 2015 S550 4matic

• I asked my service advisor and mechanics who they liked in 3rd party warranty land
• I reviewed EW companies using BBB, Consumer Reports and articles written
• the best feedback was the comments made by people who commented on the coverage
• YOU MUST read the small print in the contract to know whats covered. Far too many people never did this important step
• This is NOT a continuation of the manufacturer's warranty hence the "LIMITED"
• This is the best coverage for my S550 Endurance offered, there were no riders.

This is incorrect. See my post #5 above. As stated in the MB ELW Brochure "The Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty is available for purchase before, and is effective as soon as, the New Vehicle Limited Warranty expires." A vehicle is not eligible for MB ELW if Mercedes was ever a reseller of that vehicle. This is to prevent MB dealers from "gaming" the CPO system.

If you contact Jeff Jackson at Tafel Motors (Authorized MB dealership) he will give you a very competitive MB ELW price quote.

in essence you said the same thing adding another qualifier but the FACT remains:

1. No Mercedes Benz purchase no MB ELW sale.
2. If said vehicle already had a MB ELW and then you purchased the vehicle from a 3 rd party then yes the MB ELW is honored.
3. Resellers of MB vehicles can NOT then acquire CPO status. This effectively eliminates the option to purchase a MB ELW.

i think it depends on who you call honestly . My factory warranty expires June 1st and I called about 10 dealers in the Tri State area..half didn’t want to give me the ELW and the other half gave me offers..Since I’m still under original warranty Ofcourse
