Here is what I can tell you. This is straight from a MB dealer while I was actually considering buying one a couple weeks ago. He said the G580's are going through the Manheim auctions in the low $130's and nobody is buying them, by nobody, I mean dealers buying wholesale. I'm about to buy a new G550 now instead.

They are sitting on the lots. I wouldn’t be buying these things if depreciation is your major concern. Sticker is basically 180-190k. I offer them 160k leave your name, phone number and wait.

I'd hesitate to offer 130 on a G580 right now. And in 6-9 months they'll be in that range, or less. They will follow the exact same path as the Taycan

I think you can’t time this. Pick a price that you think the cars worth and buy it or not. It’s not the best in class and better versions will come in later years. G580 will not appreciate like g63 and it’s not an investment. If you want an investment buy VOO.

Same here. Was about to purchase at MSRP. Did some calls and got deals 15-20k below MSRP. It'll drop like a brick. Going for a 550 instead.

In terms of resale, the two reference points I've seen are:

BaT: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...des-benz-g580/, ended at MSRP (no buyer fee)
C&B: https://carsandbids.com/auctions/3LY...-eq-technology, ended at $165,500 (+$7.5k buyer fee)

I really like the G580 actually - but test drove the G63 AMG this weekend and it felt a lot smoother (due to the active suspension I guess?). Acceleration felt similar. If anything, the G63 seems over priced to me, but that's always the case.

If you'd consider getting it shipped from out of state, I have a few dealers that can go below MSRP for you - just PM me and I can connect you with them. No obligation of course, can just see what pricing they'd give you. In CA, it's mostly at MSRP right now for the G580.

Hi Amelen,

Thanks so much. I liked the driving dynamics of the G580 but firmly decided against it due to depreciation and poor range. I will pick up my new G550 in two weeks if everything goes as planned. I like the 63 as well, just don't feel that kind of power is necessary in an upright box😂....and yes, I too think the 63 is far fetched on price. The 550 I'm taking has an MSRP of $169k, an identically equipped 63 shy of the engine and some suspension trickery is $209k. Just can't justify $40,000 for that.

Prices moved down pretty quickly - in the NYC-metro most are $10k under MSRP right now. When 2026 pricing comes out (assuming MB increases prices on all their cars), it might help stabilize the market.

Thanks! Good to know, I would have thought they'd charge more in that area!

There are going to be many G580s sitting around on dealer lots at the end of the current MY. Where will they all end up and at what price?

There are rumors of MB prices going up significantly for 2026.. that might help the 2025s.

A substantial price increase coupled with few on-lot MY26's and longer order delivery times might be MB's plan.
