Similar to the one I saw two months ago

These pictures were taken in mid-July at the entrance of the Jebel Ali Free Zone just south of Dubai (where DaimlerChrysler Middle East has its headquarters). Looks like the same tow truck!

The rear wheel in that first pic looks like a Carlsson 1/6 Evo

That isn't the G, there is no new G class. I have pictures of this, and others so-called G class "replacements" taken last week in Germany. None are the replacement for the G. Mercedes has a lot of new models, many prototypes, and a lot of concepts that won't ever get produced.

I'm sorry mb230s, but the vehicle pictured above is a Mercedes-Benz and it will definitely go into production next year. In Dubai alone, more than six different prototypes in very late stages of production have spent the summer undergoing hot weather testing. The dealers here have already been briefed by DaimlerChrysler that a larger SUV with three rows of seating will be launched as a 2007 model, the only thing unclear is what it will be called. The dealers here have also been informed that production of the current W463 G-Class will continue for one more year at least.

In total, my guess is that Mercedes has built at least 50 test versions of this vehicle which normally cost on the order of US$ 500,000+ each to build. It is a mistake to assume that something this far along in the development cycle is not going to be produced.

I never said it wouldn't be produced, only that it is NOT going to be blessed with the G name.

Mercedes all the way!
yeah mb230s is correct - looks like it'll be the GL-class instead? there's another thread on this: https://mbworld.org/forums/g-class-w460-w461-w463/123320-latest-info-real-pic-new-g-er-ehhh-gl.html

i don't know, not really digging the looks, but i'm not a big-SUV person either. i suppose it has to be big and very masculing to make it in that market.

so, will the original G-class soldier on? =)

2006 at least, possibly to 2010. Still waiting for a decision from the top.

i want a g-wagon so bad and i think what makes it so cool is that its just so ugly yet so unbeleivable mind shattering fast!i think it be dumb to come up with a new version. After all the current versions design dates to what? the 70's?i love the looks of the current g. But then again, look at bmws new mini. It went unchanged since the 60's and the new versions pretty hot.Do you think dainler could do the same for the g?i just dont know if its changeable and im studying to be a car designer myself im never supposed to say that.LOL
