Looks great. The prep steps can be tedious but you will be completing the build on a solid base. In my experience the "fun" stuff comes with the finishing details. The things that are going to show once completed. Keep the updates coming. I'm really enjoying this.
I have a question about the rotors, i was planning on getting a set of aftermarket drilled rotors and pads for g500. Do i need to change the original g500 calipers in order to get larger drilled rotors? I was planning on doing it myself at home
I have Stop Tech slotted rotors on my G500 (Racing Brakes patented slotted rotors on my CL55) as drilled rotors tend to crack. Sure they put them on race cars but change them after every race. Stop tech, thru Tirerack, are special order slotted rotors but worth waiting for. You don't need the cryo ones. You do need the one that have "black hats" because they resist corrosion much better. BTW new MB pads are made by TRW among others whereas AMG/Brembo pads used to be ATE
Today I removed everything from the inside of the doors in preparation to have doors removed from the vehicle during the respray. They still have to be prepped but this way they are going to be just empty shells.
Amazing resto! Since you have stripped it down. Do you foresee it being hard to instal 2 captain seats (like the front seats) in the rear? Ive seen a few pics of brabus G's with 2 rear captain seats. I would like to do that to my G63 to free up some room for the rear passenger.
As far as 2 captain seats in the rear, I don't think its too difficult, but I'm sure its not easy. You most likely will have to modify / fabricate seat brackets in order to attach the seats.
I did see on YouTube someone install CLS seats in the back of their G wagon.
With a build like this, the details and the type of materials just snowballs. Would be amazing if you can get the rear CLS seats installed. This thread is pure automotive ****, .
Removed rear side windows and fifth door window. Windshield is also going to come out right before taking it to the paint shop, No rust under the window seals, like new under there )
Next week I'm going to start sanding the vehicle and prepping it for paint.
