LOWERING MY 2002 G500

hey guys, so recently I've been doing research on lowering my 2002 G500 for comfortability reasons. my stock ride height is just too high for an everyday car and drives rough. i want to lower my G500 to match with the g63 height (which is lower). Is anyone able to suggest any cheap ways to do this? i don't want to buy $1,000 aftermarket springs, because that is just silly. if anyone has any AMG springs to sell, I'm interested. thanks!!

Lowering the w463 will not make it more comfortable. Cutting the stock springs will actually make it less comfortable as it will make it actually more bouncy.

If comfort is your reasoning, it will require new softer shocks than what the 02 G500 came with. And cause after nearly 13 years now, the original shocks have inevitably lost a good portion of their resilience. A good choice would be to buy new G550 shocks.

Keep in mind that just the labor replacing the shocks or springs will run you about $1k. The W463 is not a truck to cut corners on and try to do things on the cheap. The slightest veer off course and it will end up costing many times more just to fix it. It's not a 4-Runner or a Wrangler.
I've had mine about 7 to 8 years and I've spent about $40k in just maintenance & mods.

i actually found g63 shocks online and i can do the labor myself, I'm quite a mechanic myself if i actually try lol. but not only for the comfort, i want my g500 lower because its also just easier to get in and out and feels sportier like the AMG.

The G55 set up is rough to say the least. The 63 shocks are not a great upgrade for comfort. I took off G55 shocks & springs years ago. First went to Lorinser springs & bilstien shocks but a couple of years later went to the perfect combo of factory G550 shocks with factory G63 springs. Never looked back.

how does that work? don't g65 springs have to work with g63 shocks? because the shocks are adjusted for the g63 springs. i didn't know you can combine g550 shocks with g63 springs, interesting...

G320 CDI, C32 AMG Sportcoupe, GLK300 4MATIC
I bought the $1000.00 lowering springs from Lorinser (silly me ) because my G320 CDI just dont fit in my garage.
The ride is NOT more comfortable instead it just get a little bit more harsh.
My truck is a diesel so probably its a little heavier than the G500 or G550.
Im modyfing my garage from a lift door to a sliding door to get more height clearance. Probably i will get the OEM springs or go higher and get the Old Man Emu kit (+50 mm).
