Putting on 24's?

I am considering putting 24's on the G500... Will I have to do suspension work?

I know of 23" Antera 325 or the Giovanna Attacks in 23" - those are the largest I have heard of going on the truck. I am not sure about 24." No one attack me, but I am wanting 23"s myself - Does anyone have any experience with Giovanna? Or want to offer any insight on going to a bigger wheel?

I don't give a damn really if other people don't want me to put wheels on my truck, you shouldn't either. I live in busy Florida streets, I don't exactly take the G through the jungle, I know it's a good off-road car but that's not what I care about...

My friend left town for a little while and wanted his car garaged, needless to say I drove an escalade with 23'' Attacks for a few days...I thought the car rode smooth, if that's what you mean by experience. He likes the wheels also.

Do it! 98% of your driving is on the road anyways, plus Gs with big wheels are sweet!

Yup... I most likely will within the next month, I went to the dealer today and saw a G55 with 23 attacks, it looked very sharp.

Tomorrow is my big day for the c32... HRE's :p

Not that I care but why do you people ruin off-road machines like this its like putting 26's on a H2 hummer it ruins the car. Would you put G55 wheels on your C32. ??

Why not, unless you live on a dirt 4 wheel drive road, your not gonna be off road much. 98% of your driving is on the road so why not just chill out and enjoy the ride on some nice wheels. thats just MO.

Plus H2s are gay and are not 4 wheelers, they are a box body on a yukon frame. No one cares what you do to an H2, it will never be a real hummer

Come on guys, It's A G-WAGON, MOST (MOST I SAY) people who buy G's are for the exotic look, it isn't to take it off road, taking an 80k$ luxury SUV offroad isn't the plan when people purchase these vehicles. I say put the biggest rims on it you can fit, I have seen alot of g-wagons on 22's but with 22's I'm sure they are already running a 30 series tire. Good luck with it man, if you ever do it I would love pics to drool over!

The car wasn't designed for rims that size and many people knowledgeable think the stock 18"s are already pushing the envelope. Keep in mind the car debuted in 1979 with 15" rims that were 6" wide. Also, for ANY car you put bigger rims on, upgrade the brakes. Many people over look this. There was an article a few months back in Motor Trend or Car/Driver that studied the effects of these massive rims. The braking performance suffered greatly and most people don't realize how much difference the extra weight of the rim will cause. The suspension components also took a premature beating.

Having said this - if you bought the car for show you wasted your money. You really have to take the car off road to realize what the car is all about. For $30K less you could have more features, a better ride, and much less maintenance.

I don't see anything wrong with putting 24's on the G-Wagon. I will cheer on your decision!

My friend has a Navigator on 24's, and I've driven it a number of times... sweet ride!

Another one of my friends got a H2 with 29's! I drool everytime i see the thing. He never drives it. I forgot what company he went through to custom fit those, but it honestly looks amazing. I didn't drive it, but the ride is smooooooooth.

23" Davin Abyss

We have 23" Davin Abyss on the G500...... I have a picture of it, but can't figure out how to post it on here. Let me know, cuz they look sick. We painted the screen behind the spinner silver to match the g500.

You can put what-ever rims you want...

23's should fit... maybe with a little rubbing, but folks have run them. However, the g500 is NOT and escalade. An escalade is an amerivan luxury SUV which means it's suspended soft... to give you a nice soft plush luxury ride... most people used to an american car find the g500 harsh and abrasive even with the "small" 18" rims. You will notice not too infrequently the number of g500 for sale with big rims, or big rims for sale alone. The truck is going to ride like HELL! So, again, if you wanna, put 23's you can do it without adding a lift. BUT your gonna hate how it drives unless your roads are fresh paved and you drive less than 60mph, because your going to get some nasty vibration too. This truck, since 1979, is somewhat famous for having front end vibration, and wider stance and cross section rims are gonna make this rough riding truck a real toughy. Try running the existing tires at Max pressure to get glimpse of the change.

yes 24s will fit perfectly with no prob. no suspension work needed. but will strain ur power steering. u'll here a humming noise once in awhile. i had giovanna wheels and experianced from other people that the chrome on giovanna and any other wheels that is affiliated with giovanna will chip after a few years no matter how much time u take care of them. i had them only for summer no winter use and still chip. i think the warrenty on those chrome is 1 - 2 yrs. giovannas are nice but not the chrome. try lexani or wheel made in korea or usa. their chrome is better. giovanna is china sh*t

MB G500- mine; BMW M5, 740il; Jaguar Xj8; Chevy Corvette
I put 22" Anteras on my G. suspension work wasnt neccessary, but after a month or so we got it done because there was a shake at high speeds. the wheels werent related to the shake.... it happened with the stock rims. i love the look of the wheels and the ride is extremely smooth.

23's

Our G55 arrived yesterday and we installed these 23's 305/35's. Rides great and weight at each corner was only increased by 3# (stock tire/wheel 77#, these 80#). Looks are subjective, but we like it.......
