Picked up my new G-Wagon last week.
I took delivery last Thursday, after seven months of waiting. It was worth it. I had to wait an additional month for my G, inasmuch that my G was on the vessel that caught on fire during its trip across the big pond. My G and the other new MBs on the vessel were held at a port for about a month, inspected/scrutinized for any residual fire damage.
My G appears to have been saved from any residual fire damage. No signs of any damage!
Quick assessment; I'm really glad I ordered the G63 over the G550. I prefer the looks better. It looks very aggressive. I just love the massive side pipes/exhaust. It handles a bit better than I expected. It's really quick off the line. It pulls really well for its weight. Tons of torque.
I'm a bit surprised at the lack of leg room/seat adjustment. I'm just under 6' with a 32" inseam, and I have the seat adjusted as far back as it will go. I don't see how anyone over 6' with a longer inseam, could find a comfortable position...
I would welcome a bit more seat travel, but I'm certainly not complaining.
The steering wheel has an unusual/odd angle, similar to Ferraris. It's a bit too far angled toward the windshield. I can't find a comfortable angle/adjustment, but I can certainly learn to live with it. My wife calls the G, "the bus" lol...
I'm a bit disappointed with the sound of "the beast" (as I affectionately call it). I expected more sturm und drang, but the exhaust is too muted for me. I had my dealer remove the electro mechanism that left the exhaust valves open all the time on all of my other AMG vehicles. The G63 apparently does not offer that option.
Long & short, absolutely no regrets! I love the beast. My wife wants it as her DD.
It's comical to watch the fuel gauge. The beast loves fuel, lol. I like the rarity of the G. Love the panoramic view. Love the cooled seats. Seats are very comfy. Stereo is above average. Love the wood trim & the tufted/pleated door cards. The engine is absolutely brilliant - colossal & beautiful. What a machine!
We are blessed to be in a position to drive these beasts.
Happy/safe motoring.
Cheers/Carpe Diem,
B

Welcome to the board, nice ride! I do like the G63s, but went with the G550 since my goal is more off-road oriented.
I hear you about the seat leg room, I'm 6'3" with 35" inseam and have the seat all the way back as well. It just about fits, good thing the seats have a lot of adjustability otherwise. I believe there is a solution out there to extend the front seat another few inches, if you search for it.

'22 Alpina B7,'21 G63 Renntech obviously (wife), Wrangler(kids)
Currently on her 2nd G63, had a RR Auobiography in 2014 but hated it and traded it within a few months for a new G63.
Btw, her 2016 rides better and has better seats (leather finish) then her 2013.

^^^ Sorry for the long delay; this is not a very active site, so I only log in about every other fortnight, lol.
The other car/bike forums I belong to/engage in, are very active and I log into them daily...
The color is red storm metallic & the interior is light brown. I ordered the vehicle to my specs.
Thanks/cheers,
B
