Daily Life with an 18' G63
Total milage on the car is about 2500 right now, and of those 2500, I've put in about 1000 give or take. Immediately when I began to drive it, I loved the upright seating position of the car, It almost makes you fell like you're above everyone (I mean it in the most literal way). It's useful because you have such a good view of the road. I also noticed that their aren't many blind spots in the car, which makes using it fairly easy on a daily basis. I noticed that as big as the car looks, it's relatively narrow, and also makes it easy to drive around town. The ride quality of the car is also not bad either in my opinion. I do want to note that this is coming from someone who only drove a C63s, E63s, and some F350s (work trucks). The craftsmanship on the inside is perfect, and you could tell that the car screams quality. How the door sound when you close them or lock and unlock, it's just perfect.
...but there are somethings I do want to point out that I find as drawbacks. The backup camera being the worst feature of the car, it is impossible to just go off of it. I don't use it at all. It's inaccurate and the wheel in the back blocks a good portion of it. Another issue with the car is the dead steering feel. It's far from being precise, but more on that later. Finally, the turn radius is horrible. That's all i'm going to say in that regard.
To conclude, every negative that I just mentioned can be forgiven. I understand that this is supposed to feel like an old car, and I also understand that part of the reason it is what it is is due to it being a very capable off-roader. Everything this car is (which honestly feels more like a truck) is part of the beauty of it. It feels very rewarding to drive around. I'm fairly young (19 but close to turning 20 at the time of writing this) so I automatically get many looks. Some good and some bad. This car stands out a lot so that's another thing too. This one being the AMG is worth the extra cost. The 5.5L sings like a beauty. The car also just eats up potholes or anything else on the road!
This is a fabulous car that is worth every penny. It's a niche product, I can understand that. You really have to be committed to the car to like it, because otherwise it just looks like an overpriced jeep to everyone else. I hope this review helps any that were in the market for the car.
