Replaced my instrument cluster lcd

Got a screen from Tanin. Install was pretty easy, it will be a lot easier to read now.

Looks nice! Can you post a link as to where you got the display? Mine is fading also so I need to replace it. Thanks!

Sure here it is:
Amazon Amazon

I'm not sure what other models this screen works for (your sig doesn't show a c-class or g-class) but hopefully it fits for what you need it for! Let me know if you have any other questions

Thank you very much for the link! I have a 2003 G500 so I ordered a display. How hard is it to pull the instrument cluster in a G wagen? Does is just pull out like other MBs? Do you have to remove the steering wheel?

Thanks again!

It's very easy. You just need a small piece of stiff wire (i used a metal hanger) about 6 inches long and straight. You don't need to remove anything from the car but you should move the steering wheel down to make room for the cluster to come out
  1. Adjust the steering wheel down and as far towards the driver's seat as possible
  2. Disconnect the battery (i did just to be safe)
  3. Push the hanger straight into the slot hole on one side of the cluster until you feel some resistance. You may have to poke around a little until you hit the clip. You might hear a click if you get it right. I just pushed the hanger in and gently pulled on the rim of the cluster until i could tell that the cluster was loose.
  4. Repeat on the opposite side of the cluster.
  5. Pull the cluster towards you until you can get the angle to disconnect the cluster wiring harness on the back. To disconnect it, you depress the little push catch on the back to slide the grey vertical clip towards the driver's side door, and then it should just pop right out. Now the cluster is free
  6. To replace the screen, remove the gauge cluster from the casing by slightly lifting the 5 tabs on the case. Being a 15 yr old piece of plastic, you will want to be careful with everything you work on
  7. Once you have that out, gently pull the silver plastic bezel to the lcd screen in the middle. (yours may be black on a G500)
  8. Follow the ribbon cable from the bottom of the lcd and flip the gauge cluster over (minding the odometer reset knob), and pull the tiny little black tabs towards the direction the ribbon cable goes. When it is out you will see a thin black bar underneath the cable. If it is done correctly, the ribbon cable should disconnect freely with very little effort
  9. With the lcd screen ribbon disconnected, you can now remove the lcd. Depress the 2 white tabs at the bottom of the lcd to pop the lcs loose and CAREFULLY slide it down and lift it out of the cluster.
  10. Perform all these steps in reverse to install new screen, being very careful with your new screen!

Made this account just to thank you. local shop was going to charge me $2,000 to replace the lcd panel ion the gauge cluster (utter insanity). instead, I spent $15 on eBay and 10 minutes of my time thanks to you...7 years in the future
