2012 G550 gas mileage
hi everyone new to the forum and new to Mercedes. Just bought a beautiful 2012 G550 3 weeks ago and I’m learning my way around it. I just went through my first tank of gas and only got 240 miles. Is that normal? When I first filled up the range said I’d get 345. Also, any tips or tricks from current owners on what I should know on this thing would be greatly appreciated.

G-Class gas mileage is dismal. I got my 2018 G63 in late June and I had a 2016 G550. It seems mpg is almost always 8-14 :-O
I had a 2017 X5 35d and I would go 500-600 miles per tank of diesel. 2018 G63....200-250 miles!

Same observation here. 8-16 in my G550. 8 going around in the city of San Francisco over hills and stuff, 16 on flat highways going 55mph - I very much expected it. It's also hard to resist opening up the throttle to listen to the V8

E is not an option for the AMG, but I keep mine always in C. On the highway, around 60-65mph, flat road of course, low wind and perfectly calibrated humidity LOL....I can get 14 mpg! But honestly, kind of no matter what I do, MPG is just always about 10-12mpg generally
LOVE my G63, but I better get a damn fruit basket from Chevron this December!!

One tip is - get a lift! These trucks look SO much better lifted 2-3 inches (about the most you can do without spending $$$). You'll need 35 mm wheel spacers, and the optimal tire size is 34 inches. Night and day difference in look, should've come from the factory that way.
