Fog light upgrade on the 2015 G550

Hi guys, has anyone done a fog light upgrade to their 2013 through 2018 G550? The headlights and running light are the whiter light, but the fogs on our 2015 G550 are a much warmer light (almost a miss match). I'm thinking something really white and bright.

Let me know. Thanks.

Ok, thought I would bring this to the top again to see if anyone has ever replaced the bulbs on your Gwagon? I'm curious if you can do it from the front, or you have to remove the lens or what? Or go in through the wheel well? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Not sure about the process to access and remove the bulbs but I had these on my Ford Focus and they looked great - not much brighter (if at all) than stock but a nice color that matched the factory 4300K HID headlights

Looks like you can get yellow ones too: https://www.xenondepot.com/h16-h8-h1...12793unix2.htm - some people might like this look and the yellow lights are supposed to be good as fog lights

You'll want an H11 HID conversion kit. It'll have to be a canbus enabled kit to function properly on Mercedes SAM.

I used to have a 2015 G550, and I changed the fog light bulbs to 5000K. No HID and will not recommend.
Extremely easy process to change the fog light bulbs, it's in your manual.

I believe I used the following light bulbs.

Amazon Amazon

Will look a lot better!

DV bulbs are not 5000k. Halogen bulbs can't physically get to that high Kelvin range while maintaining adequate lux. DV fakes it with using blue film to try shifting color spectrum. However over time, that blue film will flake off and leave a mess in the hourunh and color shift back to yellow.

That said, they are the whitest halogen bulbs in the market if you want just a simple bulb swap.

In my experience I had them for 3 years and never had an issue.

Give it time. Numerous customer reports corroborated. Not saying DV bulbs are a bad option... We actually recommend those to customers who just want to stick with halogens, but should be aware.

Why not try led? Less heat inside the lens

Agreed - check out the Philips bulbs I posted above. A bit pricey but really quality bulbs and the beam pattern was correct.

I've got a 2015 G550 and the fog lights are halogen, so they are a warmer white then the headlights so when they come on they look dated, old and mis-matched. So I did an LED Update.

Here's a picture of the old color on the right and the new LED color on the left. The new one matches the headlights 1000 times better

I used the Alla Lighting TS-CR LED Headlight (H11-TS-CR-HL). There are many brands out there so I'm not saying this one is the best but this one works marviously

First step is to remove the outer cover. There are two screws (not phillips) TTX-15 (sometimes referred to as "star") Take both screws out and slide the cover upward to get it past the bottom flanges.

Now you'll see three screws holding the foglight to the chassis. Remove those three and the light will separate. Those screws are TTX-25 ("star")

Ok, now from the back of the light, twist and remove the old bulb. Put the new bulb in and attach the LED driver link (separate part). Then connect the new LED wiring to the stock harness (attached to the vehicle) There is a "+" and a "-" marking on the new LED wiring. There are also colored wires on your stock harness. The right side (passenger side) is brown & black. The left side (drivers side) is brown and blue. Brown is always negative on a Mercedes Benz. Be sure you get the brown wire lined up with the "-" side on the new LED wiring.

Test your foglights. You will see that the LED are SOOOOO much better.

Now with the added length of the new LED wiring you will want to zip tie the wiring together so it doesn't hang down. They give you two zip ties with the kit. I found them too short, so I used some longer ones that I had

Now, remount the light back into it's three places (three screws) and then put the cover back on with those two places (two screws).

That's it, do the same for the other side that then you will be a COMPLETE BALLER.

It's an easy thing. Took be about an hour. The passenger side about 45 mines and the drivers side only 15 (once I knew what to do). Hope that helps everyone.
