Performance Chip on 2019 g550 RACECHIP
I have driven the 2019 g550 and besides the louder exhaust and firmer ride...I believe the 2019 g550 is as quick as my 2015 G63 ...the ride and handling is definitely closer to my 2017 Range Rover supercharged (V8)...I have a 2019 g63 on order arriving in February (who knows, not even AMG knows...lol). I was thinking about getting a 2019 g550 and changing the wheels to the edition 1’s and adding a performance chip to add 80-100hp...seems the motor is pretty robust and transmission is robust as well so not to worried about durability...I can’t seem to find any real world reviews of people who have chipped the 4.0 V8 in a g wages...RACECHIP has an attractive product but I have concerns about piggyback chips—-anyone out there have feedback and ideas? To me a 2019 G550 with 540hp would be a kind of cool to fly under the radar a bit... Cheers

Coming from the vehicles I have had, I have no issues with piggy-back tuning devices. I have had great luck with them on BMWs, Porsche, McLaren, etc...

i have a custom tune on my E63S wagon and piggyback on my GL350 and no issues with either. I took my GL to my local shop to install my RaceChip and the gains are noticeable and no issues thus far - have had it installed for a year now. Once in a while there is a hiccup at low speed downshifts, but overall best bang for buck out there.

Renntech may be the way to go - my indy shop is a certified MB Repair shop as well as a Renntech dealer - from what i recall certain dealerships were selling Renntech not voiding the warranty.
Brabus, Weistec, Renntech, EuroCharged all will turn the G into a MONSTER

I have Renntech in my G550 4X4 and its day & night, they flash the factory ECU and it was done at MB Dealer, so it will not void the factory warranty but will void the CPO warranty if you choose to extend your warranty after 50K miles or 4 Years.
The reason I'll choose Barabus this time because its plug and play, I can take it off anytime I'm going to the dealer VS Renntech.

Performance chip? How 1993. In the 21st century there are piggy backs and flash tunes. Brabus has a piggy back available which it ok if you don't want void the warranty or have problems going into the dealer for service or warranty work. A flash tune is almost ready with renntech. Ill be waiting for that.
