Truth be told, no one knows. We are all just guessing, but hoping. I ordered my MY2019 G63 in Oct 2018, so it is quite possible (maybe even likely!) it will auto-morph into a MY2020 G63 by the time it appears at my dealer. You better believe my fingers are crossed that MB will uplift from the very long in the tooth Command System to the all-new MBUX, plus the touch screen. Some folks are of the opinion that such a change is just too much to expect too soon, given the G63's total revamp this year. But trust me, I am still holding out hope! We may know something about G63 MBUX possibilities later this spring, or perhaps by this summer, when the car media folks get ahold of the G63 MY2020 specs.

I dont know know about MBU - but I am curious if they soon change the touch pad in the new G to something more like the ones in the GTs which is matte looking and flatter. It looks what more modern and intentional. The one in my GLEAMG and the new G's feels like an old mouse.

IMHO :-)

The new touchpad is just one of the many changes and improvements that comes along with MBUX.

it’s lame how they would debut this on the a-class rather than the flagship suv like the G. But in all honesty, I never use the entertainment stuff for anything besides music or navigation. And I always control that through my phone. So I’m ok with command. At this point, it’s all I’ve know. For the last five cars over ten years!

I agree, as nice as MBUX will be, it’s not a make or break for me, either. Heck, I’d much prefer a Dodge Demon-like blown AMG motor over MBUX, any day, bro!😁

I've had the same question and dealer is clueless. Ordered 550 in November, with February build. It has been pushed back to end of April with May delivery.

In the process of seeing when 2020 builds will start, and hoping it gets the upgrade. Anyone know when 2019's will change to 2020 builds?

I even doubt they put a touchscreen given the safety issue and off road nature. Who knows

It will make sense to upgrade to the MBUX during the facelift!

Would the MBUX system appear in 2021, given its the third year of production? My allocation is slated for May but I have the option to push it for a 2021.

Thoughts?

It's a possibility, but there's no guarantee. There's no official hints or announcements yet.

The system in the W463A G63 is horrible. Almost preferred the simplicity of the G55 entertainment system. Watching reviewers of the G63 infotainment system try to make it seem modern is a joke. Trying to switch between stations on XM is slow and buggy and the whole system is slow. Very frustrating. Love the truck and wouldn't go back but a major miss.

my 19’ Range Rover Sport was similar (laggy/froze a lot). When the dealer updates the software it is now much smoother. Do you think MB will release and update to fix this? Not sure if MB works this way with there infotainment system (never owned a Benz before). Just a thought.

The infotainment in the W463A gclass is actually a mature system. It just isn't very good or responsive. So probably not much they are going to do with it.

Will be a while until the Gs get MBUX. Maybe with the facelift model.

I am guessing it will be closer to May or June, when the 2021 specs are released.
