Thoughts on Black Magno vs Matte Black Wrap
Hi,
I was the happiest man on earth last week. The dealer had called me saying that they could deliver my G63 with Black Magno paint this summer.
Today, they called me and said they had problems with delivering the car with Black Magno paint, and that if I wanted this paint I would have to watit till March 2020(!). Quite the anticlimax, to say the least.
They told me that I could order the car in Obsidian Black and have the car wrapped in the same matte color code, and that they would make it look 99.99% the same.
I told them I needed some time to think this over. The G63 is not cheap, and being from Norway makes it even more expensive due to the taxes. Having to take short cuts is therefore not ideal when you've decided to spend this amount of money on a car.
Does anyone have experience with a wrap? Is there any downsides I should be aware of?
Thank you!

Not much people will notice the difference unless they really focus on the edges, but every time you open your door to enter you will say, why did I do that, spent that much $$ on it and couldn't get what I want.

That is crazy you have to wait year for some paint color - must be shortage on that paint or ???
Maybe another matte color interests you?
Your hard earned money get what you want and heck they may have other options and features and would be a 2020 model not a 2019.

Tnes, if it were me, i'd wrap it. I plan to wrap mine. I didnt want to worry about caring for a magno paint, I drive up to the mountains/woods and kill about 10,000 insects. Those sitting on the paint are apparently not great for magno matte paints (or any paint, but esp magno). Order your car black, have it wrapped, then when board with the matte, wrap it again in something, or reveal the brand new paint under it. Just my two cents.

I appreciate everyones suggestions so far.
efathalla, you really got me with the "every time you open your door to enter you will say, why did I do that, spent that much $$ on it and couldn't get what I want."
I've looked at some youtube videos of matte black wrapped cars, and I'm not sure if its my imagination but I feel like I can see that its not real paint? Looks less exclusive I think...?

I went through this dilemma as well...ordered plat magno and told about a year to get the matte paint I wanted...option to wrap...cost @ $4500-5500...live in orange county so price may differ...my issue was two-fold...One...I am spending @ 185K for an ordered vehicle that is not the color I want and secondly...a good install job requires the removal and dis-assembly of many parts...lights., grills, door handles, etc...the videos of installations are hard for me to watch...these vehicles are not meant to be taken apart...the snaps and plastic retainers are never the same (in my opinion)....Yes, there are great installers that know what they are doing...but...???
If the dealer or situation presented itself where a 2019 g63 in black became available for $5-6000 less , I would consider....paying full price for the wrong color seems like a mistake to me--- Cheers
